It would have cost $1300 to replace it. I paid the kid $200 to dive for it, and $105 to Apple for the new one, so I feel much less sting than I felt before he found it.

They agreed that 18 hours under salt water warranted replacing it. I didn’t want to keep using it and risk it going bad down the road.

Auburn's Wendell Green went floating in the Dead Sea with his in his pocket. It didn't fair as well as yours. They said it did power on, but wouldn't take a charge. When it died, that was all she wrote.

Did you have a box around the phone?
I had the Mag Safe cover, which isn’t water tight

I folded my iphone 13 in half on Friday. I had laid it down on the tailgate to talk to the wife and forgot it was there. Went to shut the tailgate and heard the crunch. It still powered on. I could barely use it, but it would still send and receive text.

I've also learned the hard way about iPhones and water. I still have one about six feet down off the side of my dock. I was painting and didn't take care of the phone in the pocket.

Put my iPhone 12 Pro Max in my swim shorts pocket last summer. Swam in the pool at our house in cape Hatteras for a couple of hours. I just new it was a done for when I remembered it. But I’ve had no issues. Still using it.

Ha, he began looking 18 hours after it hit the water. He found it within 15 minutes. So I guess the rate was $800/hour.

I washed one of the early iPhones pre-waterproofing in the dishwasher, when it fell out of my scrubs pocket. Threw it in a bag of rice overnight and it worked like new
