If i turned the dome light on in my parents vehicle when I was a kid, you wouldve thought I starting shooting a gun or something... my parents would go nuts
It was and still is mind boggling to me... it is distracting but not that big of a deal

That or having an uncanny ability to know the exact second you’re needing to see the passenger side mirror and leaning forward for random reasons to block your view.
Happens every single time we are backing out of the garage. I need to look at the passenger side mirror to check my clearance on that side and she leans forward to dig in her purse. Every single time.

Won’t be leaning forward, going forward.

It's as if they've never driven before. I truly don't think they have situational awareness the way men do. They are so wrapped up in their own inner chaos and emotion driven mindset that they just don't think about things like how "this is the worst time to lean forward and dig in my purse".
They tend to think a lot about a lot, all at the same time. Nothing is linear. It's a spaghetti bowl.
Men think in a linear fashion, so we realize "if I lean forward now, he can't see, and he needs to see because he's looking at the mirror." Or, "I don't need to lean forward and look left to see if a car is coming, HE needs to lean forward to see if a car is coming."

It’s illegal
Nope:
Louisiana:

Did your parents ever tell you that turning on the dome light in the car while driving was illegal? Well, they lied. There is no specific law that prohibits you from driving with the interior lights on in your vehicle Read More: 11 Things That Are Technically Legal In Louisiana | LINK
Texas:

Is it illegal to drive with your dome light on in Texas?
The short answer is no. There is no law in the state of Texas that prohibits the use of interior lights while driving. In fact, according to section 547.305 in the Texas Statutes Transportation Code, there is nothing that says using your interior lights, or dome light, while driving is illegal. Yeah my parents told me this could cause an accident when I was maybe 3 or 5 so I've never done it since. It doesn't really bother me if someone needs it for a few minutes.
I find it far more annoying when you ride with people that turn their instrument panel lights all the way up, or many modern cars with a screen that wont dim enough. Rented Nissans...

I didn't know the dome light lie was so prevalent. My dumbass genuinely thought it was illegal until college. Got laughed at pretty hard on a road trip for that belief.

Yet another lie I've believed until looking it up myself due to this thread.

Nothing like lighting up the inside of your vehicle for the I-10 shooter to get a better aim.
Kind of dumb to do this, and like mentioned, very distracting.

What the hell are you guys smoking?
After your eyes adjust to dark conditions, light causes your pupils to shrink. It takes close to ten minutes for your eyes to return to their optimal state to see in the dark/low light conditions. It's not just annoying, it's dangerous.
Put a red light bulb in the dome, that way she can futz around in her inner chaos and your vision at night won't be ruined.

Didn't want to start a new subject topic, but I always wonder when I see head-rest all the way forward if people realize you can push them back so your neck can be straight.

I can’t even stand the light from a phone. Tell that inconsiderate bish to get ready at home

Irreconcilable differences, they just don't like putting "dome light" in legal documents.

I hope when you leave your house at night, you sit in the dark driveway for 10 minutes to allow your eyes to adjust, before you pull out the driveway.

it annoys me but not near as much as going a whole car ride only for her to wait till the exact second I put it in park and take the keys out to open the mirror and touch everything up while I sit there

It makes it harder to see. The light inside the car makes your pupils constrict making it tougher to see the dark road and what's on it. Same reason your dash lights will dim when you turn your headlights on.
