Driving Basin bridge during sunrise

I rarely drive the basin bridge anymore but did the sunrise thing last weekend. The few times that I've driven it that early were on the way to an LSU game or vacation. The combination of looking forward to an event plus the view almost makes it a sort of spiritual experience. Anyone else?

I made the drive home from the Kingfish a few times and felt the same thing.

The orange flames of burning vehicles are spectacular silhouetted agains the sky.

Especially when the view of driving into the sunrise blinds you and you run into the rear and underneath a big rig. It definitely turns into a spiritual experience then.

Spiritual in the sense that it means I will finally get my butt out of the driver's seat. Whether visiting family, or driving through on vacation, I have been stuck in the seat for 4 hours, already.

One time, I drove out to Lafayette for a date. We stayed up all night, and I drove back across the Basin Bridge as the sun was coming up. The following morning was the first saturday of college football season. Listened, and called-in, to the national sports radio show on the air. I was so exhausted when I got home that I slept through the entire 11:00am slot of games, but it was 100% worth it. I still miss that girl.

When I was younger I was just getting on the basin bridge on my way home when I realized I left the keys to my apartment at a friends house. That was spiritual.

Every time I cross Whiskey Bay I think about all the dead bodies that have been dumped there and wonder if there are any in the water at that moment.

Everybody has a different definition of spiritual and that's okay

Made that drive for two years before moving back to the BR area. Enjoyed it every morning

weekdays, that view will get you a speeding ticket cause LSP sits on the Eastbound side in the mornings so you have trouble seeing them as you drive into the sun. The cop that drives the white challenger with ghost decals makes a killing.

I totes get what you're talking about when driving the spillway at sunrise on Bacchus Sunday.
From about 10 yrs old when riding down with my dad. And now driving with my kids. When you come over the hump and hit the spillway and you see downtown Nola, a really cool feeling comes over you like "frick YEAAA!"

I'm a few years younger. Swap Out Kingfish for Outer Limits. I'm there.

My hunting camp is in Boutte La Rose and I have LSU tickets and live in Lafayette. I am the freaking president of making this drive
I definitely don’t put as much stock in it as you do. I just see it as a drive.
