If you can’t get drunk and have your car take you home, what’s the point of autopilot?

How auto is autopilot
Is it glorified cruise control or you type in address and passed out

The car will just follow the pavement striping and stay between the lines.

Are you supposed to get in the passenger seat?
Posted on 12/1/18 at 7:48 am to Covingtontiger77
Well, he was clearly in control enough to disengage the autopilot when the blue lights started flashing. So yeah, he was operating a motor vehicle while being intoxicated. Its not really rocket surgery

You can get a DUI just sitting in a parked car if the keys are in the ignition

Should of sat in the back seat not behind the wheel.

And if your vehicle is newer and has keyless start, you could get a DUI just for having them in your pocket while sitting in the parked car.

Can it stop without help?
Posted on 12/1/18 at 7:55 am to kywildcatfanone
I would assume so. Things like red lights and stop signs should warrant the car the be able to stop on its own.

Uh, what? I've never heard that before.

Yes they can stop without his help. If the vehicle it is following slows down, it will automatically slow down also.

What if you have a wireless push to start setup?

Yup, and people need to remember that laws take time to catch up to technology.
This autopilot tech isnt perfected enough for this guy to do this. These are the people that cause stupid sounding "Warning Labels" on products.
Hope this guy gets punished hard to make sure it's not taken advantage of

I think you literally have to have them in your trunk to "be safe". Depends on the cop of course but keyless start up or not you can be screwed.
Which to me always said to me it's not all about safety cause someone who decides to "sleep it off" in the parking lot can get fricked for running the heat/ac.

A good lawyer should be able to get him off without much effort.

So useless on most Louisiana roads.
