If you get time, check out Tunica Hills just north east of St. Francisville.

It's Clark Creek Natural Area in Pond, Mississippi where you want to hike, not Tunica Hills Wildlife Management Area. There are no waterfalls in Tunica Hills WMA.

Absolutely not worth it. You have better views at Long Leaf Vista at Kisatchie at mile marker 119 off cloutierville exit

Somewhere near the base of Mt Driskill is an old lead mine. It is from that mine that an early La explorer, Antoine-Simon La Page du Pratz, reported silver in La. He said it was the "purest silver he had ever seen." Later, it was found out that the metal was not silver but another silver-colored mineral. I spoke to a patient in Ruston whose last name was Driskill. This was probably 20 years ago and he was probably about 80. He said he remembered when he was a little kid, the ground rumbling and his dad told him it was the mine collapsing.

He was having a contract dispute with the Cubs minor league organization at one point. He still had NCAA eligibility so he went to Northwestern and played basketball for a year. The older brother of one of my friends used to give him rides around Natchitoches.

At what elevation is base camp?
At my age, this may be all I can handle.

People go for the mountain but they stay for the pine trees.

His first choice was basketball but MLB was where the money was and so he grabbed the chance and went for it.

Just got a text that the high altitude rescue helicopter won't be available this climbing season. It was the pet project of some crypto billionaire through his charitable foundation, and you know how that's been going lately. If Bienville Parish SAR can't get to you on foot, you''l be on your own.

I’ve lived less than a 30 minute drive from Driskill for the last 20 years or so. Never have been inspired enough to go over there.

Can you still hire a Sherpa in Arcadia, to help haul your gear?

No idea what restaurants Arcadia has nowadays

La Fogata is pretty decent. Definitely better than the 287 El Jarrito restaurants they have up there.

Hire a helicopter out of Ruston to take you to the summit and ski down.
