Ok, thanks to the OT, I just learned Louisiana has a "mountain." I Googled and saw the elevation is only 535 feet, so I know it isn't much. If any of you baws and bawettes have been there, is it worth a trip? Any cool scenery? Anything to do nearby?

Thanks!

Don't be one of those guys who goes unprepared and puts others at risk rescuing you. Put the time and effort in to train like your life depends on it, because it does.

The southern ascent is the most beginner friendly in my opinion

It’s an absolutely gorgeous mountain. Probably the most underrated in the country, but a difficult summit to say the least. Quite a few have died attempting to climb it.

Can you still hire a Sherpa in Arcadia, to help haul your gear?

Likely need to acclimate the lungs a day before heading up. Humidity often drops below 80% as well.

Unfortunately not, there’s an ongoing labor dispute with no end in sight.

Just make sure you don't go swimming, unless you want to melt.

I’ve been hitting the highest PAVED road in every state. Many aren’t where you think they would be.

Haven’t done LA yet. Pretty sure it’s Old Athens Rd near Homer.

I guess 535 ft can look like a decent sized hill when everywhere around it is sea level.

When I got to the summit, they had to administer oxygen and treat my altitude sickness.
