Just came here to troll, saying Layne Norton is fricking insane and full of shite.

Facts over feelings…yeah, his facts…

He is just as guilty as anyone online of cherry picking studies.

I’m going to ad hominem attack. He’s the biggest narcissist on the internet. I don’t know how people watch his videos where he superimposes his ugly, crazed, face on other people’s videos to prove how smart he is and not see it.

Still have yet to see the major studies conducted where we feed 4k calories of varying diets. There are numerous anecdotals of people trying to stuff their face full of 4k calories of carnivore and end up losing weight versus what the calorie counter says they should gain.

A calorie is not a calorie. It’s why Nick Norwitz has been giving Layne shite on twitter and rightfully so.

Did I mention Layne is a narcissist?

Sometimes he is wrong.

Here’s another thing. A calorie isn’t a calorie because in this subject it violates the basic premise of the 2nd law of thermodynamics. The human body is not a closed system. So this whole calorie theory doesn’t directly apply to human physiology.

find me a study that isnt some BS.

we have dozens that show the whole carb-insulin model is not true and that the things that matter are calories and protein

At least daily consumption of diet soda was associated with a 36% greater relative risk of incident metabolic syndrome and a 67% greater relative risk of incident type 2 diabetes compared with nonconsumption (HR 1.36 [95% CI 1.11-1.66] for metabolic syndrome and 1.67 [1.27-2.20] for type 2 diabetes).

again it was a questionaire which is the least reliable way of conducting a study

it was coloration not causation. it didnt ask calories or macros or any other diet or health info

hell in the conclusion
quote:

Conclusions: Although these observational data cannot establish causality

again a questionaire

they are completely unreliable and show an association at best

here is the complete study, read it
LINK

quote:

Cancer.gov has a whole page dedicated to the links between artificial sweeteners and cancer

it's your risk to take, but water is absolutely healthier.

i never said water wasnt healthier than diet soda. i have said 3 times i agree on that

here is my rebuttal to the cancer risk
warning from layne

and yes layne is an a-hole but he is an extremely good at his job and his REPS review which goes over studies and breaks them down is damn good. So is alan argon research review

and as far as your questionnaire study ...we have actual studies that are controlled that show diet drinks do not raise any health markers, none. we have cholesterol info, bp info, resting glucose info, we have calcium scores, metabolism scores, etc etc

im not saying your should choose diet drinks over water, not even close. what i am saying is if you are over weight or trying to maintain your weight, diet drinks(~2-3 a day) are good if they help you maintain compliance. they can help you quench that desire for something sweet. they are not the devil you make them out to be

outside of genetics, weight is the number 1 factor in health. much of that is determined by diet and NEAT so a lot goes into that.

I'll give you props, a lot of knuckleheads post their half-witted opinion without a single decent legit source to back any of it up.

Your post is full of hard facts to back your assertions up.

I believe he is, by teaming up with RFK Jr.

Which is kind of funny considering he rolled back Obama’s school lunch program. He should have just brought back chocolate milk and left everything else alone

thanks....im a big prove it guy

if its just my opinion i tend to say that

im not always right by any means and more than willing to change my mind if given evidence

and i personally prefer to eat keto/carnivore to an extent and IF, but that is personal preference

you can go back and find tons of post like 10+ years ago where i was completely wrong then and freely admit that. i was falling for much of the same shite many on the OT fall for

in the end when it comes to health...as far as nutrition goes...until you are below 15% bodyfat...worrying about anything else besides calories or protein is just majoring in the minors and even to about 10% it really is.

#1 thing for health for 99% of people is getting their bodyfat under 15% for a male, 22% for a female. once there....im more than willing to discuss more complicated things.

I think with sodas I get more addicted to the carbonation than the sugar. I am not a beer drinker but a good dose of a carbonated beverage after cutting the grass is so good. Even drinking the sugar-free version is still very bad for you, though. I cut them out for like 3 years but recently started again like a crack addict falling off the wagon. I need to stop.

I'm the same way - been going the club soda route to try to deal with this.

That is clearly not the point of this conversation.

It sucks how low quality our food is, even meat/veggies.

I'm hypoglycemic, but i learned a lot more dealing with hyperglycemia caused by medication that my wives took battling MBC.

Honestly, it isn't that hard to know what's good and bad for you and understanding how your body metabolizes food.

I don’t mean to be insulting, but you need to educate yourself on this. And if you do, you will learn shocking things about the damage to Americans’ health that is being caused by the big food industry, big pharma, and with the complicity of the FDA/USDA.

after Covid you’re still going to live on the pubmed diet?

“Find me a study”. I do not owe anyone anything. Me, plus a lot of others find that removing all but meat in the diet has us feeling incredible. When I stray off I know I can hop back on.

I don’t need a study. Always with the “studies, or you’re full of shite” nonsense. How about the thousands of anecdotal stories that already show results.

The point is that our FDA allows many things that are not allowed in other countries. They are allowed because it saves the manufacturers money but to the consumer's detriment. Fruit Loops is just a small example of a much larger issue. They are even adding dye to Salmon. How stupid is that?

Exactly, just look at the “average” American vs the “average” European et al. We getting those extra healthy calories

wtf does covid got to do with anything? has nothing to do with well controlled studies on diets. covid had no studies on the vaccines, that was the point
