Hey, I'm at work casually chatting about Lafayette.

You decided to come into a topic debating my friends death, decided not to read the whole topic to see that I was already informed that Dons was closed a year prior to being bought out, and then you decided to cop an attitude when everyone else seemed to be in a fine mood.

Go on your lunch break or catch a smoke. It's the internet, no need to be a smug sack.

edit - deleted my response since epidamonos posted the case law court ruling

Smoke Break, the defendants were from Carencro, the same place you call home. They were NOT from Texas. Does that make Carencro an unsafe place to live because a murderer resides there ? I agree your friend did not deserve to die; however the situation was clearly preventable by both parties. The forensic pathologist testified that the toxicology report showed that the deceased victim had several drugs in his system, including amphetamine, Xanax, the pain medicines, hydrocodone and buprenorphine, benzoylecgonine, a cocaine metabolite, and THC or marijuana. The victim also had a blood alcohol content of 0.215 percent, more than twice the legal limit to drive. IMO, the victim and the defendant being under the influence of drugs and alcohol were contributing factors to what happened. People make stupid decisions when they're Fk'd up and sadly someone lost their life.

I moved to Laffy in January 1988. Downtown area (Jefferson Street) was boarded up and nearly abandoned due to the mid 80's oil bust. It resembled downtown Opelousas. Abdalla's was fixing to close and the Costume Shop was one of only a few businesses open. Regarding the 2 new high rise towers, I also do not see that happening. Sadly Lafayette's primary means for economic and financial growth (O&G) is on life support.

I believe the OP was speaking from a political POV; red = republican. Most other cities in LA have all shifted and vote blue.

Holy shat….that is ugly as hell & does not fit with the rest of the city but then again, downtown Laf skyline is very lacking.
Is Lafayette trying to be the Dubai of South La?!!!! I’m willing to bet that this won’t happen & would be an epic failure.

Laffy and the entire state would benefit from completing i49 somehow and someway through Laf to Nola.

Baton Rouge would love it for truck traffic heading to and from Nola.
