I'd still go over there instead of waspy arse river ranch though.
Food options are much better downtown though.

You frickers are scared of your own shadows.
I'm far from a "Lafayette hipster"
A close friend of mine literally got shot and killed after leaving Nitetown (it was either Nitetown or the office, or one of the older closed clubs) and you wanna say it's because we're scared of black people?
lol

Lafayette has WASPs?

What does this mean? I had no issue with the bathroom situation?
It means that because they decided to have unisex bathrooms then they are limited to only one person being able to go at a time. In a restaurant with lets say 80 people that is not very much capacity. There were constantly 4-5 people standing in line.

Gotta figure out a good catchy acronym. WCC’s (White Cajuns Catholics) doesn’t seem to quite do it.

It's like that all day. It's not about being scared, it's about calling the place what it is...a complete mess. There are drug dealers selling drugs in front of the Science museum in broad daylight. There's a literal homeless flophouse a block from Reve. Escaped mental patients roam the streets. Wanna check my man card for trying to be honest? You worried about losing the only place you feel classy at, padnuh?

Dwyers is fricking gold for lunch though. It saves downtown for me.
You get an amazing lunch for cheaper than fast food prices. Like 6 bucks for an actual homecooked meal. Better than most plate lunches too.
Dwyers is the undisputed king of underrated spots in lafayette.

I lived in New Orleans for several years, so maybe I'm just unaffected by stories like that.

I'm infuriated right now researching on my friends death because Salon of all places did an article on it and made it racial.
Had to have been about 10 years ago epic cajun. If I had to guess. I was a few years removed from high school and a couple years after college.
Edit: He was stabbed, not shot. My bad. I always remember it being a shooting.
But it made headlines because it was some drunk dudes from texas who basically stomped a mudhole into him for no reason and then stabbed him to death.

If I have to explain it to you...you still won't get it. Might be to waspy for ya.

Why? There is tons of empty office space around lafayette

Looks like sort of the coonass knockoff of this building in Dubai:

Also, the group that bought the old Don's is planning to demolish and put a brewpub, restaurant and commercial space on the first floor with commercial and residential space above

Ah. Yeah there's a truck load of those types in Lafayette.
I mean that basically IS Lafayette and much of south Louisiana.

That's a really shitty story and situation, but like I said, it's very rare that something like that happens.
Staying away from downtown because 1 time 10 years ago there was a fight and someone was killed doesn't seem super logical to me, but I understand that it affects you more because you are connected to the victim.

Just ignore this dude. He's an escaped mental patient from RaginPagin. This wet blanket's origin story is he was a meter maid during college. Explains a lot.

Literally going to get rid of a seafood staple and the best crawfish bisque in lafayette for a fricking brewpub.
I'm done with this city. Dons is a monument.
