You don't think it would help? Are you saying court ordered restraining orders are useless?

No sir, not at all. Just saying the individual apparently planned this, and ain't no order gonna stop something like that unless the individual is locked up. But on what charges, violating an order? Posts bail and proceeds with his dirty deed.

to be honest with you all I even have questions. I never knew this was going on only her siblings. they kept it tucked away from us. every time I seen them or talk to them they seemed happy like some kind of fairytale. so I wonder the same questions

Uh yeah, it might've changed the fact that there was some sort of joint custody agreement, meaning he never would have had the excuse to go down there to meet her for their daughter.

They even said they knew he'd be there for the event and a restraining order might've forced one or the other to change their plans.

Would have made a big difference.

I thought most people agreed that they are useless. They don't offer you protection if someone is out to murder you.

Like gun free zones - a joke for protection.

RESULTS: About 11% of 231 women killed by male intimates had been issued a restraining order. About one-fifth of the female IPH victims who had a restraining order were killed within 2 days of the order being issued; about one-third were killed within a month. Nearly half of those with a restraining order had been protected by multiple orders. Victims killed in a shared residence (versus elsewhere) had lower odds of having a restraining order, whereas victims from rural (versus urban) counties, married (versus dating) victims, and Latino (versus non-Latino) victim-offender dyads had higher odds of having a restraining order. The type of weapon used was not associated with whether the victim had been under the protection of a restraining order.

Figured it would be higher than a mere 11%

No doubt man. It's a tragedy all around especially for the kid.

I think if she had filed charges against him or even gotten a protective order it would have been bad for his career. Possibly even career ending. The military doesn't like its officers behaving like that.

Maybe she didn't file because she still loved him or at least cared about him and didn't want to ruin him. Maybe she was using the threat of filing as leverage against him in the divorce/disposition of assets. Who knows what was really going on between them.

You are spot on, if she had filed his career was over. It's typical for the spouse not to file especially if they are the main bread winner.

Jesus, he left his 5 year old daughter without parents. No one is worth hurting your child like this.

Agree 100%. But that is for normal people with jobs. Most of the meth heads don't GAF about restraining orders. Not sure if that study I posted breaks it down by race/money etc, but I would like to know that.

Seems like she was rubbing those photos in his face considering he obviously was stalking her profile every 5 minutes. Personally, I think she uploaded the photos of that baw to piss off her hubby and that is what triggered him.......no pun intended.

Plus a restraining order would have made it exponentially more difficult to co-parent and run a business together. She was most likely hoping for the best and that he'd cool down over time.

True, but the front desk staff person shouldn't be up for Hilton Employee of the Year. Granted, he could shot them anytime he chose out of the room, but still bad to give him a key card

For exact situations like this, the clerk shouldn't make new key cards for anyone not listed on the room/show ID

They in fact use the angry ex example in any basic training on why....

But inevitably some desk folks think they are helping out, or get tired of angry reactions when they tell someone no. At 4am I’m guessing the overnight person was just trying to get through the night quietly. Big mistake.

I guess the front desk person didn't even ask what Room Number, or the husband said he forgot the room number, just look under this name..?

No way he would know what exact room they were in before hand?

Do you think the front desk person got fired?

I'm not surprised. Found out after the fact a very close relative had been in an abusive relationship, although never escalating to the level in this thread, and we had no idea. Plus, it had been going on for years, and the couple (including the abused woman) never mentioned anything about it, never confided in any other family member, until she ultimately filed for a divorce.

Not sure if it's okay to post here, but the family has set up a GoFundMe account to help with costs associated to raising 5 year-old Audrey as well as Amanda's funeral:
