Mayor Sharon wants to let BR residents that despite recent shootings and murders there is nothing to worry about, you arent in danger.

It's her constituents that are involved so maybe she just doesn't think they are important enough to register on her "average citizens" radar.

I saw the interview on TV (but was pretty sure the one I saw was on Tune In) - maybe she was making the rounds.
On the interview I saw, she was basically saying the "average citizen" is safe because people that are doing the shooting/killing know each other.
Stats don't lie and she is fooling herself and looked like an idiot during the interview.
Maybe if she hauled her arse out of bed and went to each crime scene (like Hillar does) then she will have a different take on the average citizen being "safe".
