The numbers to focus on are hospitalizations and ventilator use, which is what Texas is going off of with their reopening plan. Cases will increase, but we've shown that we have the capacity at our hospitals to deal with the severe cases.

If we increase testing like they say we have to it will.
It's a self fulfilling prophecy.
Cases will increase if you increase testing when the majority of people are asymptomatic.

It's not triggered. It's that it is absolutely unnecessary and ridiculous. It's like if they came out with a study that you need to wear a hat made of tin foil to disrupt alien radio signals to your brain. That's about how I view it.

I wouldn't consider it an anomaly. It's just a good example of how you can't just throw open the barn doors and let everyone out without any kind of restriction. What did them in was removing all restrictions and having huge mass gatherings (parades for those returning from War) on top of troops bringing mutations home.
The phased plan released by the White House and supported by several Governors makes the most sense to avoid overwhelming hospitals.

Sure it is. It's not uncommon for masks to be worn in other countries when they have flare ups of respiratory diseases to reduce spread.

You have multiple studies that say it can reduce spread more so than not wearing anything at all. It's not as good as medical grade masks, which I'd be more than happy to switch to when they become available.

And they've already come up with a "gotcha!" about Trump with the disinfectant thing. That'll give the late night talk show hosts a cheap punchline to use for the next year.

Triggered is something that brings up deep emotions, like a gay person being ridiculed for being gay or a black person being subjected to an active racist act. You're trying too hard to stay hip with the lingo. That doesn't bring up deep emotions for me. It's just something that irritates me.

It will, but that isn't the point. The point is that it is acceptable risk to get the country running again.
