Dude don't even. I have known multiple who got the flu shot and still got the flu.

Point is that no matter how hard we try we cannot hide from disease and infection.

I'm just tired of hearing cases will automatically get worse if stores, etc open back up.
No one can assuredly prove this.

No one can assuredly prove that if you jump off a building you'll get hurt, but it's fairly obvious. Of course we'll get more cases and get more deaths. The question is, how much more? And is it worth it?

I can be 100% sure becuase things are locked down currently and we are still seeing cases rise in places like BR and while cases are declining in most places, there are still some new cases.
Hey guess what, there are always going be some "new cases". This isn't a movie. We're not gonna wake up one day and magically, every single new case has ceased to happen across the land. But the rate at which new cases have appeared has been on a steady downward trend with a few peaks on a particular day in which you see a spike. But it was never going to be a completely straight line one way or the other anyway.

So opening tings up won't make it magically disappear.

And it also won't make things magically get worse. At least, let me put it this way...there is no fricking way you can say that you 100% know that things will get worse if we open up. And by worse, I'm not talking about a few cases and saying, "SEE! I told you!" I'm talking about a new upward trend and apex of cases.

Because the flu (like Covid) has different strains. There is a strain that was more like China's strain on the West coast, and a strain that was like Europe's strain on the East coast. This is why there is no such thing as developing a vaccine and being done with it.

Which is exactly why we need to open up now. We can’t hide forever! Good hygiene, eat healthy, and protect the most vulnerable.

Unless some radical new technology comes along there won’t be a vaccine for COVID-19 or any other coronavirus. They’re weird shape shifters.
