I turn the heater on when I leave. Then AC goes to 64 when I get home.
We have no AC, but it does get warm inside when the temp gets over 70.
Not sure how I lived without AC when I was a kid.

Set it to 75 or 76 year round, screw that noise! Mine stay at 78 when I'm not home, 74 in the evenings and 71 when I go to bed only cause my wife can't take the cold.

Ever since, Uncle has helped me set the thermostat at 85 if he is at our house when we leave.
Be careful, those higher temps will make the bodies you have hidden in the house smell quicker.

There's a problem with your ac. You're like low on Freon due to a slow leak or you have a dirty condenser

Keep mine at 35 celsius

If the kids complain it's hot I kick their asses outside, after a few hours the house will seem nice and cool
We keep ours on 71 all the time, even at night. We have a big arse fan in our bedroom on high too. That's just what is comfortable for us.
I get the opposite complaint from our youngest kid. She says it's too cold and wears sweatpants.
We leave it running all the time, even when we are gone. I might kick it up to 78 when we go on vacation

That would cost you more money and energy to let it it go to 85 and then have it overwork the ac to get it back to 73.
Posted on 6/17/23 at 12:42 pm to pioneerbasketball
That's actually a horrible idea as it will take more electricity and strain on your ac to bring the temperature down once you get home.

When every federal facility follows the DOE advice on thermostat settings - you know, leading by example - I will gladly do my share and follow suit.
Until then, they can go frick themselves with a barbed wire dildo.

When we go home at lunch and it’s 80 it feels freezing. 77 at night. Y’all have some poorly insulated homes or well-insulated bodies.

No there isn't. It's 96 degrees outside today. Your AC unit should keep your home 15-20 degrees cooler than the temperature outside. So if he's maintaining 72 degrees and it's always running, then it's doing what it's supposed to.

Well I am almost always at home, but even still I mostly keep the windows and doors open for good circulation. It's just not hot enough to be running the AC

Power outage Day #2 from big storm. Inside the house temp 83.5 rn. Stifling. Now way my thermostat ever sees 85, even when I'm not home.

I heard an AC guy on the radio the other day say that if you are doing this every day just for the time you are at work, increasing the temp more than three degrees is counterproductive. It’ll take more energy to recover normal comfortable temp, than had you made no adjustment at all.

The only people I know that like their houses at 77-80 are 70+ years old. It might be your preference but that would make you a statistical outlier. Room temperature is defined as 68-72 degrees for a reason.
