I work with a guy who tried to take the "I don't watch the NFL" approach with me when I would try to talk to him about the Saints in Sept/Oct.
But boy, he sure was allllllll over talking playoffs and Saints vs Rams, etc. Yesterday. And he is one of those type guys who would agree with the OP by the way. A guy who feels like he needs to go out of his way to prove to the world he's such a "manly man", rather than just being a fricking man.

It's the " hey everybody look at me I'm not spending my money with this company" cry for attention that's exhausting.
Not to mention how pathetic it must be to have to do research on all of the businesses that you may potentially be investing in due to Identity politics.
You're about to head out the door to handle your weekend errands but before you do you got to make sure you look up every company that you planned on spending a dollar at that day to make sure which side of the political fence they are on.
I have to go to Lowes because I can't go to Home Depot because they support this that and the third.
Shopping at Target the week before but now they took this stance so now I got to go to Walmart. But wait a minute, Walmart carries this brand of thing that I'm boycotting so now I can't go to Walmart I have to find another store.
It's like these idiots that were boycotting the NFL that believed they were making a difference because they didn't have their TV tuned in to the channel yet didn't cancel their fricking cable, or stop drinking beer, or stop driving the truck that sponsors the halftime show.
Boycotting is stupid.
