In the morning it’s 3.39 a gallon. By 5 pm it’s 3.09

Lure in the baws who got off of work to fill up their tanks while it’s cheaper, and pick up a six pack that’s typically $2-3 higher than what it would sell for at the grocery store.

As some folks have discussed, the gasoline is one thing, but it’s those in-store items that get marked up pretty good.

Looks like they corrected the oil prices overnight to make them match gasoline prices

Yep.

Exxon and Chevron knew the DOJ was about to come down on them, so they increased their oil prices to better match their gas station prices. As the President claimed…”Big Oil” was setting the gasoline and diesel prices at the pump!

cushing inventory

Think this is a story that is lurking out there.

We'll see if the strait gets closed again and how they handle the physical vs paper barrels in cushing.

In that June 24 post, Trump asserted, "The big Oil Companies are not dropping their price at the pump commensurate with the sharply lower prices they are paying for Oil. Those prices are dropping like a rock! In other words, customers are being ‘gouged.’ I have instructed the DOJ to immediately start looking into this. Gasoline prices better start going down a lot faster than what I’m seeing!"

The adults in the room, which is and should always be us, all know this is not how it works so I'd rather we just be honest about it and not take the same BS route that dumbass libs do. Perhaps we could explain to the US public how things DO work, and tell them that they are free to support gas stations charging less, drive across state lines to low tax states, etc.

I'm against government price setting whomever is doing it because those unintended, but well known, consequences are just behind it.

I don’t think any politician will come out and say "we are producing gas here and selling it to Europe and China because they will pay more"

"Also we are shipping domestic barrels to them driving up the price of oil and gas."

when you see 4.89 at one station and10 miles down the road 3.79 thats hard to explain

No Ethanol v. Ethanol? I know there are a few stations out there that don’t sell gas with Ethanol in it, but that’s the only reason I can think of

doesn't seem like a downstream or whatever you call it product would drop the next day as what it is made from.

And yet it will rise the next day based on “demand.”
