My 88-year-old uncle shot someone's prized hunting dogs that were on his property and the dog owner sued him. Messed up shite. He ended up getting out of it but it still cost him some attorney fees and he had to go to anger management classes. People need to take responsibility these days. If the owner didn't want his dogs harmed, he should have had them fenced in or chained up. Not running loose on people's property.

ETA: The dogs were trying to get to his chickens and he had recently had some chickens go missing.

A chihuahua is not a large dog. Dogs sense fear don't be a scardy cat.

They can't handle confrontation. They are inept and poorly trained. They are frightened, and they have access to weapon.

Adrenaline and fear are a bad combination. Add to that a weapon and you have a recipe for disaster.

It's not just cops, FWIW. See George Zimmerman.

So you're plan is to act like a woman and let your emotions dictate how you handle the situation?

That makes you as stupid as the hypothetical person that shoots your dog.

This shite is pissing me off.

I agree. I watch old people walking up and down La. Avenue every morning. They are armed- with sticks. I've never heard of anyone in the area getting attacked by a dog. I am confident dogs are in the area, yet septuagenarians are able to fend them off. Seems rather simple to me, unless you are in fact really being "attacked" by a vicious dog. Then you gotta do what you gotta do.

Pitbull, Rottweiler or Akita? Shoot it.
Literally any other breed? Pet it.

well if all my dog does is run at you and bark, without attacking you or otherwise harming you, and you shoot him, I can assure you you will receive overwhelming, suppressing, return fire from me. (given I am in the area to witness the event).

If you are too scared, stupid, or ill equipped to negotiate a dog confronting you without resorting to lethal force (as an absolute last resort), I have no option but to remove you from the gene pool as you are so intellectually weak as to be a threat to the rest of us who are not flummoxed by simple encounters as the one you describe.

Awesome shite like this makes me I wish I was on the OT more.

If you're a grown healthy man and don't possess the physical and mental fortitude to handle a single dog without a gun, you don't need to be carrying a firearm anyways.

Ooo it's moved past the I wanna kill someone robbing my truck to I wanna kill someone who shoots my attack dog.

Also someone who apparently carried heavy weaponry at all times in his driveway.

Given the choice between one of my dogs and 99% of the population, I choose the dog. Loyal. They don't lie. And the only thing they have ever stolen was a low lying sandwich as a puppy.

Those are mean little shits, though.

One bit me when I was 7. I caught him and bit his tail as hard as I could.

After that, we cut each other a wide berth.

So, you're saying there are a lot of cops that shouldn't be carrying a firearm, right? I can't say I disagree completely.

Yes.

The majority spend too much time carrying and not enough time training.

As for carrying heavy weaponry in the driveway, the only time I am without a glock is at work.

Has come in handy countless times. Usually because of snakes, armadillos, or a theft deterrent.

If you don't check your mail with an AR-15 and a BUG, you ain't doing it right.

Plus, the neighbors never want to chit-chat.

Win/win.
