Well be careful they don't have an electric fence that stops the dog at the last moment.

But if they don't and its charging you without a leash in an "aggressive and mean-natured" manner then yes you can legally shoot it.

However you're a massive pussy. Its a dog.

ETA:

I've seen labs and goldens charge in a mean way at people they think are trespassing and are just walking past a house. If a breed like that charged and someone shot it, they are a MASSIVE pussy.

All of the above.

Some of us are not willing to put up with people like you who have an entitled attitude that the rules don't apply to them. Keep your dog on a leash or fenced. And pick up his shite when you walk him.

I do this.

But if he pulls away from my wife to sprint towards you, are you going to shoot my goldendoodle tough guy?

He runs at people all the time to sniff them and lick them. He is just super social.

I mean, he is terrifying:

(this isn't him, closest thing I could find on google images)

My dog does the same thing. He's a lover not a fighter. But if you've got a scary looking dog don't expect other people to be mind readers.

I had a neighbors unleashed mutt run up on my wifes dog and start attacking him. I tried to break it up and the bastard bit me on the hand. I did my best Morten Anderson on his head. I had to go get stitches. If I was concealing at the time no doubt I would have capped him. Did I sue. no because shite happens. The neighbor also happened to be a lawyer. Not even an apology from him.

No right to shoot unless the animal breaks the boundary of the designated property lines. Maybe the dog is on an invisible fence set-up where it charges to a certain point then stops...then what? You shot a do for no reason.

Trigger happy people are the worst. Shoot first, ask questions later right?

well if all my dog does is run at you and bark, without attacking you or otherwise harming you, and you shoot him, I can assure you you will receive overwhelming, suppressing, return fire from me. (given I am in the area to witness the event).

If you are too scared, stupid, or ill equipped to negotiate a dog confronting you without resorting to lethal force (as an absolute last resort), I have no option but to remove you from the gene pool as you are so intellectually weak as to be a threat to the rest of us who are not flummoxed by simple encounters as the one you describe.

Why does the general public have no right, but Barney Fife does? Or is able to do it and get away with paid vacation?

Cops have a badge and gun, so whats the point of having these things if you can't use them?

Second, all the other cops are shooting dogs/humans, why not join in on the fun?

Third, there is hardly ever legal punishment for their actions. Sure they may get fired, but usually just a paid vacation. However, if a regular citizen shot and killed someone b/c they had a Nintendo Duck Hunt gun, then their arse would be in jail. Why do most thug cops never get jail time when every other citizen would?

Fourth, cops are above the law. They probably don't know the law, and will make up laws to cover their asses, but either way you or I look at it, cops are above the law.

Finally, if you enjoy your freedom, you should be glad that we have cops out there sacrificing their time to help put down Lassie and the black guys selling boot leg cigs. U_ S _ A. U _ S _ A !

Also there are some pussies in this thread who would shoot a dog b/c they bark at you.

Thats like saying that you would shoot a black guy down a dark alley b/c he talked at you. God damn, learn how to do an ocular pat down and asses the situation. Always have a plan A, B, and C for christs sakes.

If the owner didn't want his dogs harmed, he should have had them fenced in or chained up. Not running loose on people's property.

frick you and ur old fart of an uncle. Just b/c someone is on 'your' land, doesn't mean you can just shoot it. Buddha forbid that your kids run on your neighbors land and get shot. By your logic, if you didn't want your kids shot, then keep them fenced in or chained up.

Seriously how big of a puss are you to be scared of a dog, any dog. Most run up to you to say hi. If you did that to my 12 year old dog get ready to defend your actions in civil court.

Boy I am so sorry your POS f150 went up in flames, just bad luck I guess.

Let's say I'm out on my afternoon walk, with my licensed "concealed carry" (as the gun lovers like to describe it). I walk in front of a home, while in the street, and a large aggressive looking dog runs out from the side yard and charges me. When do I have the legal right to shoot it?

You can legally shoot it if it is reasonable to believe the dog is going to cause serious damage or death to you or anyone else.

Damn right. Why are people so scared of dogs? They act all tough, but really they are pussies. Ive had hostile dogs run at me and my dog while we were out walking, and I didnt wish i had my gun or anything. I just charged at the dog and started yelling at it, like i was going to frick its world up. The dog pussed out and ran the other way with its tail covering its empty ballsack. Even if the dog didnt puss out, im confident i could beat the shite out of just about any dog with my bare hands and feet. A 150 lb wolf would be a different story though.

Acting like a vagina when a dog shows aggression towards you just feeds its aggression.

Im a real life internet badass, I know.

If i am walking down the street and a large dog is imminently going to bite me or a family member, its tasting my .380 S&W Bodyguard. If it's just a small dog, its getting punted like a football.
