Sorry to hear that. I'm dreading the day when my dogs start to pass away.

God that's awful. Can't even imagine having to do this. So sorry for your loss. I hope your grief is short and your memories long.

Time helps. I have 8 x 10 photos of each of my previous dogs. Parting with one of them is like losing your best friend ..... correction they are your best friend.

Hang in there and when the time is right, go get another puppy.

I have a spot in my yard where my past dogs are all buried with their favorite toy or bone.

I still miss them all years later, but each of them brought a lot of joy to my life.

God bless you and your beloved pup. There is really nothing like the bond between man and dog. I'd be without my little buddy.

Truly our best friends. That little hole your pup will leave won't ever fully close. But time and a new pup will help eventually. Condolences man.

Sorry for your loss. Just unfair that we are able to love and get joy from a such a devoted friend as a dog....but will only be for a short amount of time compared to our lifespans.

Very sorry for your loss. We had to put down my parent's dog yesterday. We gave her to them 15 years ago for Christmas. She was my dad's best friend. We loved that dog. We're all crushed.

I'm sorry for your loss. We have 3 dogs and sometimes I have morbid thoughts about how bad it's going to suck when one of them dies. My sister just lost her yellow lab last week and has been an absolute wreck. I found this quote and I feel like it puts things in perspective about as well as one can. Hopefully it helps.

"There is a cycle of love and death that shapes the lives of those who choose to travel in the company of animals. It is a cycle unlike any other. To those who have never lived through its turnings and walked its rocky path, our willingness to give our hearts with full knowledge that they will be broken seems incomprehensible. Only we know how small a price we pay for what we receive; our grief, no matter how powerful it may be, is an insufficient measure of the joy we have been given."

I had to put mine down about a month ago. Had her 15 years. Hardest decision I ever made.

I couldn't look her in the face. First time I've cried in decades.

Sorry for your loss. Just know you gave your pup a great life.

Sorry to hear it.

Time is the only answer. Also, get another dog. You'll know when you're ready.

Sorry man. Really no advice about coping. You will get over it soon enough. Death of pets becomes less painful after you have experienced the loss of more meaningful loved ones like parents, children, or best friends. I grieved real hard when my childhood dog of 12 years died when I was 16. It was my first real loss. I am 47 now and have lost many loved ones and several dogs. The dogs only brought brief sadness for a few days but the loved ones linger. I will be sad for a day or two when my current dog of 8 years dies but it won't make me a wreck. So cope with it as you can. If that means shutting down and being an emotional wreck....that's okay. Life experience will eventually grow you out of that reaction.
