Suicide

If you're right handed and you lay your pen down, chances are you're going to lay it down exactly as its shown in the picture.

She wrote her suicide note with her right hand then put the pen down and picked up the gun. Did a 180 turn on the stool, smoked her cigarette and shot herself in the temple and fell towards the blood splatter.

She came home and realized she had $2 left on her EBT card.

Not sure if solved yet. Did not read thread but I want to give my two cents.

It's a Murder. Without a doubt. Look at the position of the body. Particular the feet. Now look at the splatter. Does not add up. This is not a suicide, it' a murder.

Everything suggests that the victim is left handed. Placement of the pen...cig in his left hand. Ash tray and the soda can are on the left of where he was sitting.

Gun is In the right hand. People are reading to much into with the I smoke with my left and beat off with my right.

Pen on paper is also oriented to left-handed person.

But the paper itself is angled to the left, which means whoever was writing on it was using their right hand.

She wrote her letter and turned with her back towards the window, and shot herself in the right side temple.

Suicide

the angle of the paper tells me shes right handed. left hand people write towards their body not away against it. it makes sense that the ash tray is on the left side so she can still ash as she writes right handed.

Could be suicide. If so, she was seated not facing the window.

Everyone over analyzed this. It was murder as he takes one shoe from his victim as a trophy. Hence only one flip flop. All of the blood splatter, to hand writing, light positioning, chair, cigarette, gun in right hand, facing away from mirror is all designed to throw people off.

The dead person is black. I'm gonna go with:

"Our resources are already spread thin. Due to lack of any evidence of foul play this case is closed."

OK, I think I've figured it out. It's a murder. Haven't read the rest of the thread, so don't care if someone else already noticed this stuff.

She is holding the cigarette in her left hand. The ashtray is positioned on what would be her left if she were facing the desk and window (or mirror?), so she was probably facing the window. From that perspective, the blood spatter is to her right, suggesting she was shot from her left, but the gun is in her right hand, so it was probably placed there after she was shot. Also, the scene is set up to look like she was writing something at the desk (presumably her suicide note?) since there is a pad on the desk and her glasses are sitting on top of the pad. But the lamp is unplugged, and it seems odd if she were writing at the desk that she would not be using the lamp.
