I believe they are introducing a homeless ordinance at the city council soon.

quit giving them food or money. All that does is enable them to never change. Some have mental issues and no support structure, yes...but the majority are just lazy assholes, drug addicts, and scam artists that will never change.

Put them on a bus and bring them to Austin.

They will love it!

IMO, NO doesn't have a 'widespread' homeless problem, if you subtract the voluntarily homeless gutter punks.

Only ones I see are under the elevated interstate near CBD.

They've also got a camp going under the elevated portion of the Pontchartrain Expy. at City Park Ave. where it runs into Metairie Rd. and the I-10 on ramp.

Several tents and lines strung between support posts to hang clothes.

NOLA is nowhere even close to the epidemic that we see in Seattle. If you want to know what's up, watch the first few minutes of this video. Watch the whole thing if you are really concerned and have the time, it will not disappoint. Seattle is Dying

TL;DW and my take on the situation: it is not a homeless epidemic, it is a drug epidemic. 100% of the people are on drugs. They live on the street and commit crimes to support their habit. We call them homeless but they are not the hobos from the '50s-'80s.

NOLA has a scraped knee compared to the cancer that is in Seattle. The bleeding heart liberals are only making it worse as there are no arrests for open drug use on the street.

Checked out about 20 minutes of that video link. That is sickening for the citizens of Seattle and I can see why there is so much frustration by the ones who grew up there and want to see things change for the better.

That was pretty appalling to see how much of the city is trashed by these individuals and the amount of crime they bring to the community.

Like the lady in the town hall meeting said, "Vote out the ones in power" and let someone who will do something about it take charge.

Send em to California where they will blend in with the even greater population of homeless without harassment.

I pass through Hollywood every week and at the feet of every douche lord lives a massive population of homeless. They just build bigger walls

About the same for me last night. Cut it off right after the police were stopping Travis from throwing a bicycle at people.

Plan on watching the rest some time later.

It’s amazing. I could get pulled over and fined for going 10 miles per hour over the speed limit in one of these cities but guys like Travis can be an absolute danger to society, a cost to taxpayers, and consistently released back onto the streets. Some of the homeless in Seattle are committing over 50 crimes over the course of ten years and being released back onto the streets.

Again, I’m not sure what the hell the answer is but allowing cities to deteriorate and be unsafe for normal Americans is certainly the wrong direction.

ya Nola actually does pretty well with the homeless all things considered. especially compared to other "big" cities

you can tell some idiots here have zero clue what they're talking about.

they routinely gut them out before every major city event.

"acceptable" and "useful" are subjective, just like "wasted" and "pointless" are.

I reject your premise that the other states against which the comparison is made are spending their money wisely or effectively. Because in that equation are cities like Seattle and San Francisco which spend millions giving goddamn needles to druggies under the "help the homeless" umbrella
