Does Mayor Broome deserve credit for keeping the peace?

Everyone assumed that BR would burn to the ground. Instead there was no violence with only a few arrests with the most violent one being a TD poster walking around with a pistol.
If we are being honest, had violence erupted this board would be filled with anger and everyone would be blaming the Mayor.
I think it's only fair that we give her some credit since peace was upheld on her watch

Sharon Weston Broome didnt do shite
The difference this time vs. all the other riots and such was that there were no paid protestors, and no election coming up for the media to fan the flames of and rile people up
Notice Trayvon Martin, Mike Clown, etc. all of that happened in election years. A lot of this shite is synced up with elections.

Only idiots thought Baton Rouge would riot. Anyone paying attention to the last time we had protests could see that the police will shut that shite down with quickness

Hell no.
The rabble rousers knew what the LEO's response would be like from the last time and decide to stick to the safety of the interwebs .

BLM you are out. ANTIFA you are in. Here's your checks. Looks like BLM has lost its funding and it's all funneled to the fascists now.

Ask this question again when the state declines to bring criminal charges

My daughter and I spent time in Tony's Seafood yesterday with as many whites as blacks and never did I think not to go there. I know my city and its not that bad.

BLM changed their tactics and finally moved to more policy based initiatives...thank God...
See you in 2018 and 2020.....

I thought about this yesterday, and to answer the op, yes she does. I doubt her and I have very much in common, but I'm glad she didn't make matters worse in this situation. (She easily could have)
I'll likely disagree with plenty of her values, but we should give credit where credit is due. Her staying out of the way of the camera was a choice and it was the right one.

I'd like to give her credit, but you can't based solely on her comments made at the Presser the day the DOJ announced no charges.

These policies....
The six platform demands are:
1. End the war on black people.
2. Reparations for past and continuing harms.
3. Divestment from the institutions that criminalize, cage and harm black people; and investment in the education, health and safety of black people.
4. Economic justice for all and a reconstruction of the economy to ensure our communities have collective ownership, not merely access.
5. Community control of the laws, institutions and policies that most impact us.
6. Independent black political power and black self-determination in all areas of society.

In short, BLM wants nothing short of an independent race-ocracy that is funded by the USA

2020? I'd move on from that. I don't see any way Trump isn't reelected.

I'm curious where the money came from that she paid off the black panthers to not riot.
