When our brain processes information, it goes through the emotional part of our brain first so it is easy for us to have a reaction that is not calculated and this can cause us to react in ways that make the situation worse or cause panic. But it is something that you can learn to better control.

Is this something that should be taught in school? Would we be better off as a society if people stopped for a few seconds and thought out how they should respond instead of reacting?

There’s a lot that should be taught in high school, but is not.

I blame the teachers fricking their students

This is something that should be taught at home. The problem is too many children have parents who do not give a frick.

Already is, it is a bigger joke than trying to improve cognitive intelligence.

A standard communications class that covers perceptive bias, body language, and emotional intelligence would be a good thing to start in high school maybe SR year.

Parents need to raise kids to be decent human beings.

Schools need to teach kids math and reading.

Yes. Parents who don't give a frick is the biggest problem, that's part of the reason it is something that should be taught because a lot of kids are not going to get it from home.
