Does being an Online Student actaully make you a Student of said College?

Know folks who grew up loving LSU, became an Online Student for Bama. Graduate. Then boom! They're claiming the championshipa Bama this, Bama that. Never set foot on campus.
Would something like that make them a Student or just an Online Student? Should they distinguish that?
I mean they do pay the tuition. They could call themselves that.

The obvious answer is yes
But I think what you're getting at is that they have no social connections if it's all remote and I do agree that it's different.
I feel a connection to LSU because I attended in person classes there and met many people along the way. If I were to pursue further education in an online only environment I wouldn't feel that same connection. It would just be a means to and end.

By the same logic, anyone who celebrates a championship has no business doing so because they weren’t on the team.

This. I met plenty in the corporate world try to relate because they "went to LSU" , but when I talk about LSU Campus or tailgating or tigerland then its.... sorry I went online.
We not the same.

I’d say it actually makes you a smarter student. Who actually brags about spending hours walking to their lecture instead of hopping on the zoom call?

Unless your talking about Univ of Houston Downtown. No decent unversity take hours to walk across campus.
To walk across LSU Campus for anything is nothing short of Heaven.
Except July, August, and September.
