Does becoming a dad just automatically make you able to sleep anytime?

I used to laugh at my dad falling asleep on the couch while watching big sporting events and such....
Now as the proud owner of a 1 yr old I swear I could go to sleep 5 mins after he goes down at 7pm...

Last night I was sitting on the couch watching the Pels game and caught myself dozing off before it was even halftime!

Nope, I still can't nap, and have a two year old and a four month old.

My 3 year old crawled into our bed at 2:30 this morning and coughed in my ear for 2 hours, so yes.

Maybe so. What’s funny is I’m not even sleep deprived. He sleeps through the night, I easily get 8 hours asleep a night, hell I probably got 10 last night!

eta: my post thanksgiving dinner football nap is going to be epic

I can sleep even when I’m not sleeping. Unfortunately I snore.

Kind of a giveaway during stuff like dance recitals when the thing is an hour and your little girl dances for a whole 5 Minutes of it

I learned to sleep on demand in the Army. I almost always have a nap during Jeopardy in the afternoons.

I think I want my next kid to be a girl, then I hear stuff like this and maybe I’m better off just having a bunch of boys

Opposite for me.

I fall asleep at night around the same time but often wake up at odd hours of the night wide awake. Been up today since 3:50.

I wish I could nap. I haven't been able to since college.

It really kicked my arse when my son was a bad sleeper. I just ran on 3 hours during those early nights.

I’m 67 and don’t nap at all. I wish I could but I just doze off occasionally when sitting on the couch and it’s only for a few minutes. I never get a quality nap.
I do sleep about 8 hours a night so that may be part of it.

Same, but I'm so used to not sleeping now it doesn't affect me as bad as it used to. I remember only getting 6 hours of sleep back then and feeling awful for an entire day, and now if I get 6 I feel like a new man.
