Best I can tell it is the unibody construction everyone dislikes.

Which means a 2012 Crown Vic is a truck.

You probably won't find many right now because of the chip shortage. If you're GM and have a finite number of chips would you rather use them on a Silverado single cab work truck or a Denali?

Regular cab trucks look so much better than crew cabs. Just not as practical.

When they first came out kingcabs looked weird now single cabs look weird. Kingcab all the way. Can't go the grocery store or travel with bags in a single cab if you have a passenger.

Not to me. A 4 door pickup truck with the tiny bed still looks weird to me.
I have an extended cab, and if I didn’t have kids I’d have a single cab and be just fine.

My first new vehicle was a ‘88 Chevy regular cab short bed sport side truck with bench seat V8. I should have never sold it. Regular cab trucks look so much better but they aren’t in demand anymore. I’ll try to find one in few years.

If you’re searching current inventory, you likely won’t find it. You can custom order it though.

Five years ago, you could find a basic “work truck” from Ford and Chevy for $18-22K depending on what minimal upgrades you got in it.
I almost pulled the trigger.
Wife convinced me to go with an f150 XLT crew cab at double the cost.

I still think I was right.

I've seen recent 2 door short bed fords from the 18-20 year model. I am pretty sure they still have them.

the new rangers have that cab thats not the full four door. Like the small seats behind the two front seats.

yeah if you search they do have a bunch of white work trucks that are two door.

Also can still find some older models, but still will pay 20+

Here ya go, 2011 Ford ranger

There is a Chevy Colorado extended cab at Jim Taylor Chevrolet in Rayville that lists for 27…you might be able to work them down to the low 20’s or so.

Dunno but I wish there were more of them. I’d love to get me one, cheap. $20k or less. Doesn’t need a huge engine or cab or anything like that. Just a single cab with a bed that I can occasionally throw stuff in, and it would be great if it had a bench seat.

Exactly what I’m looking for

That makes 3 of us.

Chevy is making them for 2022, but it will be either a work truck or custom trim level.

Weirdly enough they didn’t bother with it for 2020 or 2021.

I like the simple extended cab, not a 4-door. The extended cab has a longer bed. My usage does not require such a large cab, only some space behind the seat.
