I bought a top of the line 2013 Evoque for my wife. She loves it.

She got stuck driving down I45 in the last snowstorm and she was cruising on the icy roads with no worries while cars and trucks wet sliding all over the place

We sold her honda accord because she was scared driving on the freeways of Houston with a car with such a low profile. She is short and she now sits up high and feels much safer. The charged four cylinder is fast, gets great gas mileage and is a beautiful machine. I am 6'4 and I can drive it comfortably.

It is a great vehicle and I recommend it to anyone

what are you guys talking about with the horrible resale, have you even looked at them??? 2010's with 50k miles are still going for over 50k.

i put $15k into the one my ex owned and my friend bought a 2006 and had to get a new 'small block' 2 years later at roughly 9k.

but whatever...

You mean "evidence" like every released vehicle reliability report over the past decade+?

pieces of shite

quote:

Some things never change. Lying politicians, for example. And racist YouTube commenters. But also the JD Power Long-Term Vehicle Dependability Study, which was just released for 2013.

quote:

I’m not going to sugarcoat it: Land Rover had 220 problems per 100 vehicles. The average TTAC reader might be saying, “That’s not so bad over three years! My Crown Vic leaks water every time it rains through the holes for the light bar!” or possibly, “We’re 600 words into this and you haven’t made a joke about Land Rovers and fire yet?”

To them, I say: for perspective, Lexus had only 71 problems per 100 vehicles. And we know most of Lexus’s problems stemmed from the owner’s manual font size being too small, while most of Land Rover’s were because the towing eye is difficult to locate in the vehicle’s charred remains. Boom – there it is.

It gets worse. While most brands were separated by one or two problems per 100 vehicles, Land Rover was 30 problems behind the next-worst brand, Dodge. That means Land Rover would have to trim 30 problems per 100 vehicles – or nearly half of Lexus’s entire score – in order to become second worst.

Most importantly, this is not exactly uncharted territory for Land Rover. I went back through the last few Vehicle Dependability Studies and discovered that Land Rover typically ends up in one of three places: dead last, damn near last, or not included because the sample size wasn’t large enough. One year, they had 344 problems per 100 vehicles. Truly.

Audi S4 and F 150 here

Not bad but the two new models that I listed will run circles for less money.

ETA: S4 starts at 48...f150, around another 48

Give me a legit 200mph machine in the mustang for 70 and a built jeep for 30

2003 Discovery.

And I will go dig up the paperwork. I'm pretty sure I still have most of it.

That $15k also includes stranding her on the highway THREE TIMES.

how many times has my 300,000 mile 1998 4runner left me stranded??

ZERO.

Agreed it's a pretty shitty marketing scam for LR to offer a luxurious "off road" vehicle. I mean they advertise a range rover sitting on a fake mountain at their dealership.

Yeah go drive your car in the mountains and mud that has all sorts of specific computer needs and electrical parts. Sounds legit. Use it as an everyday vehicle in a state as flat as Louisiana and it's fine.

Domenica has 3 1/2 stars on yelp and it's the best pizza in the city. Or since CADX is posting, amazon has thousands of shitty parts with 5 star reviews. You can't read a review like its black and white. And that's what the OT does everytime someone posts a thread about LR.

Or since CADX is posting,

i forgot another story, also a Discovery. My next door neighbor went out to start the AC in his while he was getting his kids ready for soccer one saturday morning.

now nashville is humid & hot in the summer, but not NEARLY as bad as south louisiana.

within an hour the radiator exploded. when the dealership showed up to tow it (yes it was under warranty) the mechanic i spoke to said these cars were designed for dry arid heat, not the mugginess of the southeast US and that's why the radiator blew up.

eta these are all events i witnessed with my own eyes..and some of which i paid for out of my own pocket.

eta2 - all these vehicles were in the 1995-2006 range. i'm not speaking for any of the models released after ford bought the brand.

You're talking about a car over a decade old. The OP asked for newer recommendations. Your opinion is invalid. Move along.
