I've had ADD all my life. About 10 years ago I realized its not a bad thing, as I was led to believe when I was young. Now that I know how to deal with it I accept it to be an asset! When I am focused on something, I am laser focused. I can nearly tear down and rebuild an engine in my head, and solve issues like that kid on "The Good Doctor" show. I can track a wounded deer like a bloodhound. Periodically, I'll take Adderall for a few months, and I damn near have super powers of focus, activity and performance.
The drawbacks I've never mastered are I'll forget your name immediately after you tell me and If I screw up and start playing a 'first person shoot-em-up' type video game, I can get lost in the game for hours and hours...

You forgot about reading two pages from a book and then you realize you’ve been just looking at the pages with no understanding of what you just read.

My fiance has legit ADHD. I can tell when she hasn’t taken her med. She can’t focus in anything. She’ll start 10 projects and finish none.

Some of the greatest thinkers in history would be diagnosed with ADD in today's society. Men like Benjamin Franklin and Thomas Jefferson did much more than build a new country. If they were on Adderall, they would have spent all their time focused on digging a hole.

No such thing. shite was created to give pharmaceutical companies a reason to sell more product. Like "restless leg syndrome".

Humans weren't meant to sit in cubicles all day staring at a computer screen. If your mind is wandering then it's functioning properly. Find something that interests you and keeps pace with your mental processing and you'll be able to focus just fine. It also helps to stay physically active.

I was diagnosed ADHD in the 80's. Took Ritalin for about a year. Told my mom I didn't want to take it anymore. I struggle through it without medicine still today. It's not just jumping around acting like a bad kid like some people would lead you to believe.

The parts I struggle with he most is the constant feeling I need to move. The complete spacing out and getting completely lost in multiple thoughts.

I personally don't like the medicine because it zombies me out.

That doesn't sound like attention deficit disorder. That sounds like what I have, perfectionism mixed with the little OCD.

Diagnosed as a kid. Took Ritalin for about a year, and hated it.

Prescribed adderall as an adult, and hated it. Made me moody as hell and felt like a zombie at times.

I just deal with it now.

Girlfriend was """diagnosed""" at age 22 or something. She's been taking adderall for 12 years at this point. Personally, I think it's a cop out and over the long haul, I imagine clinical meth use (let's call it what it is) will have some negative effects on her brain. If she misses one pill, she turns into a zombie that will sleep for 2 days straight.

She was a straight A-student and successful long before she started taking it, so it seems like an excuse to me. I mean, if I sit her down in front of a TV show she's interested in or a project, she can zone in just fine and you can't get a word out of her.

All these parents who think their 10 year old has ADD (or ADHD) because he can't sit still for 8 hours straight learning about boring shite are dumb. He's 10, school is boring, he wants to go outside and play...just like every other normal 10 year old. There's nothing wrong with him.

I was officially diagnosed as having severe combined type ADD 2 years ago after 2 days of t3sting. 2 biggest ways it affects me is my memory, and hyper focusing on shite that doesn't matter.

I cannot remember stuff sometimes, noatter how important. My brain just doesn't care. I heard it described as having a car with a Ferrari engine, but a Yugo suspension. You might have tons of brain power, but you can't always control where that power takes you.

The hyper focusing thing is dangerous, because I'll end up on something that is distracting me from other stuff I need to do, and I can't pull myself away.

Just because it can be diagnosed horribly doesn't mean it doesn't exist. If your girl sleeps for 2 days after missing 1 pill, she doesn't need the meds. To people who don't need them, they work like coke.

K. It’s a bullshite disorder and an excuse to take legal meth. No different than needing opioids for “pain”

In the opinion of idiots.

Actual medical professionals and researchers disagree.

More evidence of your idiocy. Opiods are dangerous, but they do work.

It’s not bullshite. I know people that legit have ADD and need the stuff just to be normal. That said, it is bullshite how so many people that don’t need medication abuse the frick out it because they’re just lazy. There needs to be a better diagnosis process than just asking “do you have trouble focusing at work/school?”

Not bullshite, but its highly abused along with opioids. ADHD is one if the most over diagnosed conditions in medicine. As is pain, because pain is purely subjective

Sure, but it doesn't make it not real. That's a ridiculous statement.

ADD/ADHD isn't. There's extensive testing.
