Does anyone else find memory foam mattresses are too warm to sleep on?

I'm looking to buy a new mattress and I love the feel of the memory foam stuff, but worried about getting hot.

Are there solutions to this problem? Any products that stay cooler than others? A lot claim to, but I am skeptical as reviews are mixed.

Could a standard mattress with just a thing foam topper be the answer? Not sure if that would somehow stay cooler? I don't think there is anything that I hate more when I sleep than being hot.

The toppers are worse in my experience.

I'm a hot sleeper and have a cooling foam hybrid matress. It sleeps cold enough that my wife sleeps with an extra blanket on her side

Check out the latex mattresses. They have a lot of the same qualities as memory foam, but are better at regulating heat.

They are pricey though. At least quality ones are.

I've got a beautyrest black ice, while the cooling stuff I think the advertise seems largely like bullshite it does not sleep as hot as other memory foam mattresses I've slept on

I sleep hot, and I've never found the memory foam mattresses to be that warm.

On the toppers, I personally wouldn't mess with anything but the real Tempur Pedic one. I've had the 50-100 dollar blue swirly memory foam ones from Amazon in the past and they feel like cheap toppers. The Tempur one is so heavy and dense that it feels like part of the existing mattress. It's great.

I have one, and I’m generally a hot person. It doesn’t make me hot, it is pretty firm though.

No, but fricking on one is like running in sand, uphill.

I recommend standing up on side of the bed.

Absolutely but if you're in the "OT Baw" category...You should look at the Beautyrest Black or Platinum with memoryfoam and cooling. $5K for a king...really tempting though

We have a fitted cooling sheet on top of our MF that helped substantially. I’m unsure of the formal name/brand but could probably find out if needed.

TempurPedics toppers are 40% off right now on their site. Pretty great deal, and I concur the $100 ones on Amazon are crap.

Yes I agree OP, we added one recently and I wake up sweaty routinely now. It doesn't bother my actual sleeping though.

I would not recommend the pillow top mattresses either. They don't seem to last nearly as long.

Yeah I mean in the grand scheme of things they're not THAT expensive but when Costco sells king memory foam mattresses for 400 bucks, they seem pricey.

But even expecting it to be quality, I was shocked at how awesome it is.
