Costco is where I'm looking currently. They have Casper mattresses in a king for really cheap. $640 is nothing for a really good king size mattress.

But they also have great deals on other brands, memory foam and non memory foam.

Honestly, it's a bit overwhelming

I want medium firmness and I don't want to be get hot.

I'd be surprised if any good memory foam mattress turned out to be uncomfortably hot. Maybe I'm just used to them now but I'm pretty hot natured and I'm fine (and as mentioned I have an extra layer of memory foam).

Casper, Leesa, etc. are all tailored to being universal mattresses for most people and I imagine they'd all work for you.

Memory foam mattresses tend to be warmer but they are a ton different types out there that alleviate the issue. You have to look at how you sleep and how much you weigh. Heavier individuals should avoid "soft" memory foam. You'll sink in too far and not only get hotter but your mattress tends to sag quicker and easier.

Look into hybrid mattresses. I took advantage of the 50% off sale on Intellibed Nightfall and it is indeed incredible. Its a hybrid with individual coils with 3 firm settings, latex layer, gel layer and memory foam layers between them. You can sit on the side without having the side of the mattress collapsing like the Tempurpedic mattresses did. Comes with a 20 year warranty. The con is it is huge and heavy. You're not moving this by yourself and you most likely will need to buy extra deep pocket bed spreads as the mattress is 16 inches tall.

Definitly worth it if you can swing it. I don't sleep hot anymore and no neck or back pain.

50% off their king would still be almost $5,000

Holy shite dude, you're out of my league financially

I'm looking to spend max $1k. I think I can get this king Casper for $640 and some cooling mattress protector and cooling bamboo sheets or something and just let it ride.

We have one that is about 7 years old and, yes, it sleeps hot. The newer ones have a top layer that helps airflow and sleeps cooler.

Memory foam beds aren’t bad if you do it dorm style aka just a thin blanket instead of the whole hotel style sheet/blanket/comforter deal

I have needed a new mattress for five years now...every time I start my search, I get totally overwhelmed and shut it down.
