I’m not a re-enactor myself, but I really enjoy going to the re-enactments. Any of you Tennessee Valley Baws going to be joining me next weekend at the Battle for Decatur?

not very? It’s great for the children to learn history and see how the Soldiers lived in the field.

I’ve enjoyed going the times I’ve been but then again I’m a history nerd.

When I was in the Guard our battalion XO was bigtime into it. When he found out I’m a history buff he tried to recruit me to do it as well. I didn’t do it though because I can think of many, many things I prefer doing over putting on a thick, itchy wool uniform and go marching around a field on weekends in scorching hot 90 degree heat.

I had a friend who did the re-enactments. He had all of the Confederate garb and equipment. He did them for about 10 years. He was in great shape too!

The life in the camp reenactments are pretty cool.

The actual battle reenactments are cringey.

I’d rather watch a 21-0 re-enactment

Been re-enacting for over 20 years. Did some of the big ones. We have a good group, basically a weekend camping trip with friends and extended family. Plus get to blow stuff up and pretend shoot yankees

Yeah, I'm not paying to go on an FTX. I'd go watch a battle though.

Will you be at any of the Army of Tennessee re-enactments?

That occurs more often than a civil war re-enactment though.
