frick off. Haggling is fun in most instances. You probably just suck at it.
Exactly. I haggle with my customers and my customers haggle with me.

Even more credence to P. T. Barnum’s quote, “there’s a sucker born every minute.”

A 10-year-old couch is worth zero to pretty much everybody else, give or throw that s*** the f*** away.
If you’re dumb enough to buy that fricking couch, then that’s your problem and not the guy who sold it to you.

I find haggling distasteful and don't ever want to do business with a piece of f****** s*** who would haggle.
It seems to me that you just suck at it.

frick that. Haggling is a lost art in our country. It’s something I enjoyed about China.

I have never paid full price for a prostitute.
I have never paid any price - but if I was asking, I would haggle for the booty.

you can buy it for a dollar,
You can buy it for a time,
The thing that makes the difference,
Is the quantity and time,
You can have it good,
Or have it cheap,
Or you can have it quick,
But the caveat of that,
Is you get only 2 to pick.

Isn't the strength of negotiations the ability to walk away? I love walking away and saying no even as they drop the price less than it's worth just to get the sale. And at the end I typically say I will never buy this from you, I am no longer interested.
Which is exactly what I told the guy

No, the strength of a negotiation is getting a deal that both sides are satisfied with.

And rewarding a piece of s*** who just tried to scam you?
No thank you

What if both sides are trying to scam each other? A scammer will take a loss if word gets out that he’s easy to deal with to catch weaker prey down the road. Ever heard the phrase “Honor Among Thieves”?

If it's a bait and switch, I may argue with them not because of the price but because of shady tactics.
Like even if I'm at a restaurant and I didn't like my food, I would complain but would refuse any sort of refund. "I do not want you to think that I'm complaining to get a refund, It's not about money, It's about how inept your product or service is, and I don't want to give you the ability to pass it off as I was just looking to get some money I want you to know that I'm doing this just to say you how much you suck"

quote:How do you think what something is "worth" is arrived at?
It's what something's worth, not what you can get someone to pay for it.
quote:You just described haggling/negotiating.
If you want to sell something put a price and if nobody wants it then you drop the price, If you want to buy something you say how much you want to pay for it.
quote:So the economy grinds to a halt? Do the two parties have to split ways and then come back to try again to avoid the whole "haggling" thing?
There should be no change by either a seller or a buyer.

Indians are just fricking assholes about it. They are the worst to deal with. East Asians see the fun in it though and it’s a friendly affair each side trying to screw the other over.
