The wife says we need a new toilet.
She said it flushes slow.
Your opinion.

The toilet itself doesn't go bad, the parts inside can and will go bad.

Get a kit from home Depot and replace the guts in the tank.

No. Plumbing connected needs to be flushed out.

They can crap out on you

Check the floating kit thingy and plunger in the tank. Easy fit to replace the kit

I’ve replaced the pumps as well as flappers before. Never the whole toilet. Not sure what good that would do.

If you work from home, may need to ask a real man to come take a look at it.

The flushing mechanism will eventually go bad but the porcelain should never have any issues

It needs adjustment. If you didn't know this, there is a lid on top and inside is a fill valve. You might need to adjust the amount of water that is flushed when the handle is depressed.
Perhaps find a man to help you. The toilet bowl doesn't "go bad" unless you eat a lot of taco bell.

The inside components can or the plumbing connected to it can.

Yes, they can go bad. I had one that was in the house when I bought it and after about 4 years, would not totally empty the bowl.

A buddy of mine who is a plumber told me to squirt a good bit of dishwashing liquid into the bowl and then add a good bit of toilet paper and flush it. Sure enough it flushed perfectly and he told me the bowl probably developed a tiny hairline crack and that was not allowing it to flush properly. The thing is, it didn't show signs of any leakage.

I changed out the toilet and problem solved.

Mine did. It started with ditching class and smoking cigarettes in the alley behind the school. Then it escalated to pot and outright truancy. Before we knew it, our toilet was dealing and committing armed robbery. I know I have to take responsibility for failing my toilet, but the system failed it too.

Depending on how sucky your water is, the jets that blow the water into the bowl under the rim can get clogged.
The only way that I've found to really clear them out is using latex gloves and using a large wade of papertowels (like bounty, not cheap ones) and cleaning the udnerside of the rim.
Throw towels in the garbage.

Forget those Clorox tablets to put in the supply tank. The bleach attacks the rubber in the tank.

the seal loop cast into the toilet bowl base has a small vent line that can become plugged with water hardness salts. That will cause a bad flush and is very hard to cure
