The passenger who was savagely removed from United flight 3411 is a medical doctor with a sordid history.
Dr. David Dao was charged in 2005 with 98 felony drug counts for illegally prescribing and trafficking painkillers. Prosecutors claimed Dao fraudulently filled prescriptions for hydocodone, Oxycontin and Percocet.
quote:
Dr. Dao was also convicted on 6 felony counts of obtaining drugs by fraud and deceit and in 2005 was given 5 years probation.
Dao was also convicted for writing prescriptions and checks to a patient in exchange for sex.
In medical board documents ... Dao denied paying for sex, but indicated he accepted sexual favors from an associate in exchange for reducing a debt that associate owed him.
quote:
In February, 2005, Dr. Dao surrendered his license to practice medicine in Kentucky. In 2015 the medical board lifted the suspension and allowed him to practice medicine with some restrictions. Last year, the medical board imposed even more restrictions -- now he can only practice internal medicine in an outpatient facility one day a week.

Interesting.
But also 100% irrelevant to the United story.
ETA: In determining blame or whatever

also there is this:

Legal Controversy (David Anh Duy Dao)
There is current speculation that David Thanh Duc Dao has a criminal record under the name 'David Anh Duy Dao.'[15]? However, this has largely been disproven and is thought to be malicious move by United Airlines' legal team in a bid to smear Dao's name.

Oh of course. He gets knocked the frick out and dragged off a plane, but some cu.nts out there want to research his past and blast his life all over the internet.
How fricking pathetic are people? His past, however shady it may be, has nothing to do with what happened to him.

It's pretty clear this guy was out there
Unfortunately for united people have flown united and they empathize with airline bullshite. Add the beating and the statement which reinforces the perception that airlines view consumers as adversaries and this is irrelevant. It will certainly be irrelevant when it comes to this guy getting paid
United is digging for everything on this guy instead of crafting a public response that doesn't suck.

He may be a shitty doctor and person but that doesn't change the fact that he paid for a ticket and was dragged off a plane so an employee can have a seat. frick United

I would guess his shady past had something to do with his being chosen to be removed from the plane

How did this guy not get permanently banned from practicing medicine. They'll let anybody be a doctor these days

So they ran background checks on everyone in the plane to determine who got bumped? Lol okay dude.

United is playing this so dirty. No doubt they know everything about this guy and are feeding it to people. So because they can't craft a PR message they're going to unfairly publicize this guy's skeletons
United: come get your arse kicked and then your name dragged through the mud

Sounds like it. So pathetic. People and companies both have shown that owning up to things and apologizing goes over so much better than doubling down on being a dick.

How is this relevant at all?
