I learned a long time ago that it's easier to get through life when you are in control. You'll live longer too. When you motion for the guy to come out, you are in control. That's not always the case if you make a point of trying to always beat people to a point in traffic.

I can't understand why many drivers feel like people backing out should yield. Legally does it matter whether you're going backwards or forwards? If you're there first then you have the ROW, right?

the problem becomes shared fault in parking lots. i'd rather not go through having to deal with insurance, and get my car repaired and everything else to prove a point, so i just stop and let the car back out.

Yes because a lot of times they can't really see until they have backed up a certain amount, especially if they are in a car and have a big truck or SUV parked next to them

This and because I don't need an uninsured driver backing into the side of my car because I was trying to make a senseless point of who had the right of way.

I yield for them, people on the on ramps, and I have patience for elderly people driving slowly.
