Do you wave to or otherwise acknowledge someone who allows you into traffic?

For females, a fash of boobs would be nice.

if i hold the door open for you i expect a "thank you" because no matter what youre getting a "your welcome".

The merge lane is every man for himself.

A courtesy wave is what separates us from the rude Yankee shits up north.

When I lived in Louisiana, I was the recipient and also allowed people ahead of me also. Probably 80% of the time, I got an appreciation wave. I always waved "thank you".

When I moved to Houston that percentage dropped substantially.
I got tired of letting people in ahead of me and then acting like it was their right.

So now, frick em. I go out of my way to block them.

It's more than appreciation. I acknowledge them so that they know that I know. That way they don't change their mind and run into me.
