Why would I wash my dishes before giving them to my wife?

Yep, we rinse them w/ hot water before putting them in the dishwasher. It's nasty to leave food stuck to plates and silverware.

I wash them with water until they don't "look" dirty before putting them in the DW.

My wife cleans them clean enough to eat off of before putting them in the dishwasher. I didn't have a dishwasher growing up so it's an odd experience for me.

If you aren't at least rinsing them off then you are doing it wrong. Whoever told you that's weird sort of sounds like a child who doesn't know any better.

I put all of the dishes into the dishwasher and then call my golden retriever into the kitchen to give them all a once over before closing the door and hitting start.

Do you actually wash them, or simply rinse them off?

I scrub them off until there's nothing on them anymore.. then I put them in the dishwasher. Maybe overkill but who cares.

this. Some things need a minor scrub, some need a rinse, and the cups get put on top immediately.

Definitely. I don’t understand the people who just dump the big pieces off and drop it in the dishwasher with crap caked on it. That’s how you ge greasy silverware coming out of the dishwasher.

Every one of you is doing it wrong...

Why you should skip heavy rinsing
