I miss the older Samsung MST tech that would allow you to use Samsung pay at any POS terminal. I knew they would kill it off when CC companies did away with the magnetic stripe but I was hoping they'd hang on to it for a little while longer

I don't use apple pay only because my ancient local bank doesn't support it. Oh, We also pay for a checking account.

This is another thing. My credit union wont link to any of those third-party apps.
So I have to link a credit card.

I used to use Samsung pay all the time. They had the tech for it to work on any magnetic stripe reader. It didn't require the newer terminals with the NFC hardware. I think they had to stop because of a patent dispute or something.

giving Apple and Google even more control over their lives.
LOL, as they are using Android phones and installing apps that collect their contacts, exact location, etc?

Use it every time it's available.

The security question is valid. It’s one more company in the “information chain” with your financial information, even if it is “tokenized”. I would argue tokenization actually makes your financial information more secure, but the point is valid to a degre.
Tap to pay with card or with a phone are the same thing, for the layman. The security question is *not* valid, because every entity in the process is selling your (supposedly anonymized) data anyway. Chase, Kroger, Visa, your mortgage broker, your car loan company, Xfinity, etc. You eat at a local non franchised restaurant, and pay at a kiosk that uses Square, Toast, Resy, DoorDash, etc.? Your data is getting sold, so everyone can find out how many times you've ordered Taco Bell vs paying at a $25 a plate restaurant.

Buy pretty most all things at checkouts with my Apple Pay.

I have Samsung version of Google Pay on mine. Along with the Louisiana Wallet, I often leave my wallet at home.

Just set up my Apple Pay after reading this. Not sure why I never have before, because I’m notorious for leaving my wallet at home when I’m in a hurry.

Yeah, mostly at gas stations because I can use a virtual number and I don't have to risk a skimmer like I would with a card.

Yes. It’s very convenient.

Recently sat in a conference discussing these different types of wallets.
General consensus was Apple is the king. They have the most secure and private pay program out there.
Google and Samsung are about the same.
Google worries me the most currently of all the different pay types.
