23 years ago when my oldest was born I decided Christmas Eve, day and the day after we’re spent at home and whoever wanted to come was invited. I’m very glad we did it that way.

When I was married we would alternate Thanksgiving and Christmas. We would do one at my folks place and have her family come and stay with us the other week. Her family was a train wreck but they always appreciated visiting us. Wouldn’t say I miss them but felt bad knowing their kids had never really experienced a normal Christmas until they visited us.

We used to travel for Thanksgiving and stay home for Christmas. My in-laws are gone now though so we don't travel for either.

Since most of the family and in-laws live around one city in LA and one city in MS, we've always had to do the traveling.

Otis wants to make a trip to S. La. He wants to visit Troy And The Swamp People. I told him, meet me in S. La. During the month of September, that’s Gator season!

Stopped traveling once my first born understood Santa Clause. My mom bitches but I’m not doing the Christmas Day 2 hour drive and I’m also not having my kids wake up to Santa passing at grandparents house each year. It’s quite relaxing to just stay home.

We have a really good setup. Everyone does Christmas morning at their own house, then the whole family comes to our house to celebrate and have dinner together. Everyone is within a 4 hour drive so it works out where if someone hits the sauce too hard I have 2 extra bedrooms available.

In my experience the bitching and guilt tripping eventually ends. The joy of actually enjoying the holiday on your families terms never does.

Drive two hours one way on Christmas Day and back to my house all same day to see my mother-in-law but she’s 93 and the Lord only knows how many more Christmas days we have with her. I cherish every moment and am blessed to be able to spend time with her.

We live in the Indian Hills park. We have been begging our kids to come hang out with us for Christmas or NewYears for decades but no one every comes by. We are too lazy to get dressed up and travel to any of their places

I go to my daughter’s so they don’t have to travel with their baby. Traveling with little ones kind of takes away from it for them. We have a nice meal and visit and other family drops in.

Nope. No family left but my niece and she’s 3,000 miles away. So football and Tito’s.
