What say you?

Depends on her rack size.

I am the driver and your wife is the rider. She tips me well.

Absolutely. Why wouldn’t you?
Posted on 12/1/23 at 11:28 am to Billy Blanks
yes if I want my rating to remain high and drivers to pick me up.

You know the drivers rate you as a passenger, same way you can rate them, right? I have to think that if you stiff your driver it would negatively affect your rating, making future drivers leery of picking you up.
I don't see the harm in adding an extra couple bucks onto the total. Especially since the only times I ever need uber in my life are if I REALLY need a ride somewhere and am incapable of doing so on my own for whatever reason

Yes, but I only use those services on business travel and it all goes on the corporate card. I’d tip either way, honestly

Sure. But I might take an Uber once every 2 years.

Yes. It was great when Uber originally came on the scene as it wasn't too common to tip and no cash was a selling point, but obviously taxi/black car drivers have typically been tipped so arguably it's always been customary.

Wtf is a ride share driver

20% at minimum, as long as they perform their service adequately. For very short rides, I'll tip more because they just dont make money on those rides.
I know how much Uber takes from them and what it takes for them to turn a buck. Ubers are essential for my work, so I do what I can to keep the good drivers on the road.
I probably spend 10-15K on ubers for the year for work.

I do, more just posing the question. I've seen a few articles on tip fatigue.

I've heard they keep 50-70% of the fare today (Uber) and apparently when it first started Uber would keep about 20-30%

Last guy I spoke with said 50% I believe. If you take an uber 45-55 minutes and the fair is only $50, then they are only getting $25 for almost an hour worth of work and also the wear and tear on their car.
It may be slightly more profitable. Either way, good. I'm all for them making as much money as possible. The better the money, the more likely you'll get quality drivers.

Tip in cash if I can. I assume Uber is taking a cut.

Yes, and usually a decent amount. I appreciate my scores being perfect as I think it helps me get rides quicker.
