I usually only do if staying more than 1 night, $5 or so.

Depends, if I knocked the bottom out of some strange the night before and we made a little mess then yes. If all she had to do was make the bed and replace a towel then no.

I didn't know this was a thing until a crumpled up dollar and some loose change disappeared from my night stand in a hotel one day. I figured it was stolen and someone I worked with said they probably thought it was a tip.
It was like $1.37, so I never raised hell about it or anything.

Blacked out at our company party (Rehab pool party at the Hard Rock) in Vegas and woke up in bed covered in puke. All the sheets were frickin covered
I stripped the bed and made a big pile of everything wrapped up as neatly as possible. Left a $10 bill on top.
