Good servers at good places have regulars, and just want you to get up from the table so their actual money maker isnt waiting. Your 20% pre or post tax isnt even on their radar.

If you want good sevice wear a nice watch or shoes and see how attentive they are.

What if you’re in Maryland where the tax rate is 6%?

If multiplication x2 is autistic then you must be really challenged at math.

Flat rate.
$5/$10/$20 etc, per person depending on type of establishment.
I don’t tip for service, I just don’t come back if it sucks.

Well if you did this you’d be tipping more than the cost of your food so you may want to remath your math baw

I don't plan to visit Maryland, but on vacation I adjust accordingly

Wouldn't it be simpler to just take10% of the pre-tax amount and double it, then you don't have to worry about having to know that locations sales tax rate?

This is too hard for like 75% of Louisiana residents

Entire check. For normal acceptable service, I round up to the nearest obvious round number and double a tenth. Better service may get more.

So $18.25 is getting $4; $27.35 is getting $6, etc.
