I hope so. 7.5cm sounds a lot longer than 3 inches.

I can't see any good reason to convert for daily use.
The people who need metric already use it.

I hope not, the construction industry in this great nation does not use the metric system. If it does hopefully it will be after I retire.

I have good news for you ... once you learn the metric system, you'll be able to tell people your little buddy is 7.62 cm long.

There are 2 kinds of countries:
1. Those that use the metric system
2. Those that win World Wars

Back in the '70s, highway speed limit signs had standard and metric on them. I think it was during the Carter administration. The fricking speed limit was 55mph Nationwide at that time and 88kph wasn't any faster. It think for a model year or two, car speedometers were only in metric. (Maybe the metric figures were much larger, with smaller standard figures) That shite didn't last. Your average American had no desire to change, even if it meant having a uniform standard with most of the rest of the world. If anything had to change, the typical American thought the rest if the world should adjust to our system of measurement.

Well, it may be news to you, but the Americans who are winning wars are also using the metric system.

Thanks to the stuff you should know podcast, I learned we kind of already are.
Standards for the exact length of an inch have varied in the past, but since the adoption of the international yard during the 1950s and 1960s it has been based on the metric system and defined as exactly 2.54 cm.
