And I am all for him unless he causes a hardship on his family or Joe Taxpayer when he can't meet his obligations.

Ain't my business.
Whether you're an engineer, lawyer, construction worker or plant operator your just a cog in the machine and you can be easily replaced. Nothing any of us do is worth bragging about or in the grand scheme is meaningful to anyone but us.
The time away from work fulfills you. I don't give a rats arse what crutch anyone uses as long as it don't affect me.

There is nothing wrong with someone working blue collar for 35k.

They're very sensitive about these types of threads. You included.

There's nothing to be sensitive about.

Well, just in general, a labor economy isn't the best. If Louisiana has a lot of technical jobs instead of technology and "skilled" work like professional service then that's not good really.

In the big scheme, it's an absolute necessity.
However, many jobs in La that require a college degree can be done by a HS grad with minimal job training, white or blue collar.

Most jobs are this way in all states. Very few really benefit from a college degree. I have 2 degrees and can't think of a single thing that I learned in college that I apply at work. You learn almost everything by doing the job.

It's a necessary part of the overall economy, you're right. However, you don't want your economy driven by unskilled or uneducated work.
That's not my opinion, that's a fact.

Yep. I've got an undergrad and masters, outside of piquing my interest in a few subjects has had little to do with any occupation.
College should be about learning though, and not some cookie cutter job requirement. I see an end to college as we know it, and college classes will be online a la carte for professional enhancement and personal knowledge.

I don't believe that's been considered in this thread?

I'm definitely not anti education but we are doing it in the least cost effective manner.

Truth.
The driver behind our educational model is socialization, not knowledge and/or skill.

I just think you’re being a jerk for the fact you look down on people for their job, what beer they drink, where they vacation etc.

"Looking down" is what happens when someone needs an esteem booster.
