So, you see suffering as a bad thing?

God doesn’t send anyone to hell. As a matter of fact, hell was created for Satan and his demons. When man dies and goes to hell, he is fully responsible because he chose to reject the gospel of Christ.

The resurrection of Christ is absolutely fundamental to the Christian faith.

I agree.

I also believe for Christian theology to make any sense (regardless of its actual truth) there has to be a need for the crucifixion and resurrection that puts the blame for death and suffering squarely on mankind.

The Bible states that death entered through the sin of Adam. Before Adam’s sin, Earth was essentially paradise, or Heaven. Things like cancer, birth defects, predation, hurricanes, etc., exist because we live in a fallen world that God did not intend.

The problem with this (which biblical writers would have been ignorant about) is Earth is a very old place and that life has struggled for survival for eons. Man did not cause the hardships we face. They were already here long before we showed up. We were born to die regardless of sin.

And if it’s not Man’s fault that we suffer and die, then what is Jesus saving us from?

If someone gets drunk and falls off a ship and Joe jumps in and saves him, then Joe is a hero for saving him. This is analogous to a literal Garden of Eden scenario and makes sense theologically - but is scientifically questionable - because we are being saved from a problem we caused ourselves.

If someone is minding their business and Joe intentionally pushes him off a ship and then jumps in a few minutes later and saves him, I don’t think you can call the Joe a hero because he fixed a problem that he caused. This is like a liberal interpretation of Genesis that accounts for evolution and relieves Man from the burden of creating a hostile world - but makes no sense theologically.

We can argue all day about what miracles some desert-dwellers may or may not have witnessed thousands of years ago. None of that can be proven or disproven just like no one can prove or disprove that I had a conversation with the ghost of Jimmy Carter last night.

But when it comes to science, we can pull back the curtain a bit. We can see how things like the Garden of Eden and Noah’s Ark conflict with mountains of physical evidence and question the validity of the Bible.

God gave us freewill. The most loving gift a creator could give a being. This is what I believe.

And the Bible that YOU know? Is fictional. Only 43 pages of the original was written.

You don’t know this. You believe this. This is the problem with atheists, they scream about facts, yet all they do is believe. They don’t know. None of us know anything more than what we can see and what is tangible to us. You read something, well, you either believe or not. But you can’t sit there and tell me I am wrong, because you don’t know. You only believe.

Atheists are some of the most short sighted and closed minded people around.

I highly recommend the Shawn Ryan podcast with Lee Strobel. It's very recent and easy to find.

Strobel was once the chief legal editor of the Chicago Tribune and a devout athiest. He's a graduate of Yale Law so to say he's highly intelligent is an understatement.

His wife was agnostic but later converted to Christianity. Naturally this caused a huge rift in what had been a perfect marriage. Lee sought to "prove" Christianity was smoke and mirrors so he set out on a two year journey to prove it.

He's now an ordained minister if that tells you anything.

Fascinating listen and well worth the time.

Not really.
If it sounds like bullshite then it probably is. I’m constantly surprised at what people are willing to believe. UFOs, big foot, aliens, ghosts, and yea some of the stuff from the Bible that obviously didn’t happen.

Seems that the internet appears to be divided on whether Paul Bunyan and the Jolly Green Giant were real or not.

I don’t deal with folks that tell me to prove that God and Christ are real.

How about you prove to me they aren’t is what I say. They cannot.

It is about belief and what you have faith in. I have faith in God. These people have faith in man.

Not really, but methedup’s statements required me to respond. This, like every “discussion” of its kind, just goes around in circles until everyone is exhausted. Our words won’t change your hearts, but God-given faith can.

Ephesians 2:8: "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God"

back to the original question.

It's easy to argue no because of the strength of materials of our bodies. BUT the fossil record from southernmost South America (specifically Patagonia) has fossils that are giant when compared to their modern day presumed descendants. Their strength of materials was sufficient for them to be very large.

Read the Old Testament. The new is fiction.

I already posted this all knowing BS. If he’s all knowing he’d have never created mankind because he already knew they’d fail. There literally is no free will. If you know what’s going to happen ZERO

So where’s this Bible in its entirety? Why’s it not together? The codex written was spread out in many countries to be deciphered and it was what? 43pages? Where’s the 1200 page bible at?

We do have free will as I stated before god is not all knowing. I think I proved that point…

Yes you confused me even more. How did he sacrifice himself when it was murder? Why did god have man kill him instead of god himself? To me that would’ve been the ultimate sacrifice. To say you’re sacrificing your life for man’s sin which ummmm how early was Adam and Eve before Christ? A very long time. Funny he waited thousands of yrs later to put out a messiah after all the sin taking place. Perhaps Eve should’ve been the Virgin Mary. Would’ve made more sense than yrs later someone have a baby and telling her ignorant husband it was god…imagine that happening today. Would you believe it? Why not? Because it’s unfathomable

I mean all you have to do is study the human body and you can figure out that something way greater than us created them. How could something so complex be created from nothing?or do you believe we actually evolved from apes lol?

We didn't evolve from apes. We evolved in parallel to apes.

Do you know anything about the biology / anatomy of apes?
