First time I’ve ever heard one. Won’t forget it. Sounded like a woman being stabbed.

Why can't they take their murder with quiet dignity?

I think dogs sense temperament. My dogs for example, they will let kids pet them, do whatever they want to them.. They love kids, but when it comes to adults, especially male adults they don't know they become more protective. They stay by me and keep their eyes on that person and at first if that person gets too close to me they will start to growl. I have to show them that person means no harm.

Kids are not a threat at all.

Male humans are the most likely to be a threat

My dog would F a coyote up unless it wanted to tag along and point at birds with him.

Dangerous? I have housecats that run off those scrawny, matted frickers.

It depends on how fearful they are. It’s likely they didn’t fear cats as much as humans coming out because of noises. If people start feeding them and/or not scaring them off they start to lose fear of humans and take more chances with small pets.

I remember several years back someone posting in neighborhood on social media about how beautiful a coyote was just laying in front yard & looking at home, almost playful and domesticated until it saw a cat and quickly made the cat a snack. Old Neighborhood had quit making them fear humans, and a few would walk along front of houses during day looking for food left out for them or for cats even when people outside. Quite a few cats disappeared. I think a small dog was killed during day as well.

I also remember hearing about the one coyote below attacking people a few years back. I think there were other attacks and eventually a coyote was found dead in same area that they think was the one attacking people. Just quickly found below on a quick search.

a coyote attacked a person jogging and a child in what appears to be a string of incidents in the same area.

According to the jogger …suffered injuries to their neck. The victim underwent surgery and is in stable condition, police said.

previous incidents:
October 26th, 2018 - An aggressive coyote attempted to jump on a runner near Eldorado Parkway and Granbury Road. The coyote was scared off by a passerby.

November 1st, 2018- An aggressive coyote jumped on a 9-year old child on Bancroft Lane (near Eldorado Parkway and Turf Lane). The child suffered a minor injury and was taken by a parent to a doctor for treatment.

November 11th, 2018- A coyote was observed by a Frisco Police Officer stalking a runner at the intersection of Eldorado Parkway and Preston Road. The officer was able to scare the coyote off using the siren.

Dogs aren't afraid of the coyotes...just the illegal aliens that are riding them.

My dogs do. They are farm dogs and will chase anything and everything off the property. But if they hear one coyote howl, they will bee line for the door.

Farm next to me has dozens of sheep (no pics ), and they have a gang of italian sheepdogs... i want to say maremma is variety. Those dogs are ginormous pussies. They'd get run off by my pair of pit mixes with the quickness. It was almost comical, but they never lost any animals to predators after they got the sheepdogs. There was a point before then some yotes made a den in my property, under a blown over water oak root system. 12 gauge solved that problem one night.

Sad I never got to see my dogs square up with some yotes, but they're why I rehomed the dachshund i found lost on my property. Well that and the snakes. That dachshund was 14 pounds, apparently all balls. Wouldn't hesitate running into brush with any noise she heard. She'd come back to the house with bones as long as her body, made me question if a human got dumped on my property

My 95 lb male doberman wishes one will come in the yard but i ain't letting him near one of those disguising creatures.

Its the only time he shows aggression is when he sees or smells them and he is great with other animals.

Yes. They can also innately tell the differences between women and men.

For example, a dog that is afraid of men would start freaking out if this came around

You mean a dog wouldn’t respect it’s CHOICE??

If your dog is of any size, coyotes aren't that dangerous.

We had a 45-lb Australian Shepherd who was in good shape and would not tolerate rude behavior in any animal, except from tiny little dogs.

Two coyotes jumped her. She was a little bigger than they were, but not much. She was able to fight them off and make it out of the tree line. Fortunately, I was on the deck and saw what was going on. When they saw me coming, the coyotes vanished. But she would have been dinner had I not been outside. That ended her nightly possum hunting.

I've also seen game camera footage of a pack of coyotes taking down a sizable buck.

My beloved Georgey wagged his tail at one when we saw it hunting one day. Depends on the dog breed. We were told Golden Doodles would think a brown near is his friend.

my son's dog chases them - luckily no actual combat

They'll run from a dog to get the dog to follow, then their buddies will jump the dog. They are smart critters and they will work together to take down animals larger than they are.

We also have coywolves now...
