Where is this?
For the person that mentioned Blue Bayou, thats 28 bucks a vehicle to go around their parking lot. Id have to imagine a helicopter flight is a bit more exciting if its only 30 bucks.

A couple of years ago I was with relatives in Vidalia for Christmas. One night after dinner we rode under the bridge, to the North side of the levee. To my surprise, they have some of the old Christmas scenery that IP used to put up every year at the Natchez Mill. Going to see those displays as a kid was a magical experience. It was very cool seeing some of it again. If anyone is in Concordia Parish or around Natchez during the season, go to Vidalia and check that out. Kids should love it.

Yes. I still like doing that.

I drive around looking at Holiday lights. I don't assign my belief systems to the lights of others.

No one knows what Kwanzaa is and Chanukah is almost over.
Let it go and enjoy Saturnalia.

Yes, but BahHumbugs have ruined the good lighting neighborhoods. Used to be entire streets of lights. Now everytime a house is lit up to where it becomes a destination people bitch.

No, but we walk around through neighborhoods nearby and look at Christmas lights.

I like to cruise through the internet and watch videos of Christmas light shows on YouTube.

I had a neighbor in Dallas who celebrated Kwanza. One year his parents came over and picked him up for something Kwanza related. They were all wearing purple and gold robes of various types. They kind of looked like royalty, but also looked like they could have been going to an LSU game or an Omega Psi Phi party.
He was interesting. An electrical engineer who worked on contracts and he had a design/construction business. I'm pretty sure he spent a couple of days a week hustling folks on the golf course. Kept a one bedroom condo where I lived as an office. Would be over there working at restoring an old 450 SL he kept in the garage. May have been married, but seeing other women over there too.

What’s up with the ‘per car’ shite that I’ve seen this year?? Blue Bayou, Lamar Dixon, etc. I don’t remember hearing about these before. $28 a car is f’n obscene. No way I’d pay that.

I loved doing it as a kid and now seeing my kids get interested in it is pretty neat to me.

Romans from Dec 17ish to 23ish would celebrate the Golden Age when Saturn escaped Zeus and made the Earth easy living for awhile.
It was supposed to be a reminder that the Golden Age would make the ruling class weak as part of the celebration was waiting a dinner for your slaves. And grew from a day long celebration to a week because of the weakness.
Edit: Romans are pretty great, they used to have a ceremonial feeding of a chicken before battle to predict good fortune.
During the Second war with Carthage,a general kept trying to get the chicken to eat before sailing off into an engagement. When it wouldn't he declared "If it won't eat, it will drink!" Kicks it overboard and sails off to be defeated.
Tradition meant something back then.
