Do you stick with the name that the breeder gave to a puppy…or change it?

You need a virgin to break a champagne bottle on the bow of a boat to rename it, might have made up the virgin part, but that seems dangerous for a puppy.
The puppy has a strange, to me, name:
I think we could do better. Something Australian maybe.
Keep or change?

It's a puppy. Change the name if you don't like it. Why is this even a question? Or did you simply post this to show us all how cute your new pup is.
If so, you did good; I approve of this thread. That's a cute pup

Change. That puppy doesn't know shite. Make it something you like or means something to you. Breeders don't put a lot of thought into puppy names...some just stick with the same first letter for the whole litter.

Puppy change it. Older than 6 months, keep it.

I just like to use regular people's names, though gender specific.
Honey sounds like stripper.

Weird. I deal with pure bred dogs quite a bit. I've never seen a breeder name puppies.
It's always, orange, blue, red, green... etc., referring to their collar color.

I changed the name of a rescue dog that was 1.5 years old. It only took maybe 2 weeks before he was reacting to it.

Buddy of mine needed to get rid of a puppy that was 15 weeks old already. They named her “Cinnamon”. I changed it to “Tilly”. She took to it after about a day

That’s basically forcing you to change it.

My first girlfriend when I lived in Chicago got a kitten and we named it Wrigley. Great pet name.
My current GF and I are gonna get a new long-haired dachsund and name her Lambeau, Beau for short.

Change it if you want it while it’s that young.
We kept our gsd’s name bc we got him when he was 9mo old and already knew his name. And his name fit him vv well.
