I use my Apple Watch to track my sleep and I am not entirely sure on how accurate it is but stats from last night are:
Awake 19 min
REM 1 hr 3 min
Core 6 hr 10 min
Deep 7 min
Throughout the night I would "wake" and flipover to sleep on my other side.

Well that was a Saturday. My routine is more strict during the week. I do try to keep a similar schedule though on weekends since I’m getting up early anyways to fish or go for a long run. It also helps to not get off balance going into the next week.

I'm 71. i'm up to pee at least once per night. sometimes i'm just awake at 3, so i get up and read tiger droppings, facebook, and watch youtube for an hour or so, until i feel sleepy again. then i can sleep until 9:30 a.m. no clarity or serenity, just aggravation that i'm not asleep.

is this before or after you find a bathroom in your dream?

Usually two or three phases. It's not unusual for me to wake up at 3:30-4:00 AM and just be flat out starving. Sometimes I'll even cook some breakfast and head back to sleep for another couple of hours. Every time I do this though, I'll almost always have to catch a 30-45 minute catnap at lunchtime.

We couldn't be more opposites. I've never once woken up feeling rested and ready to take on the day, no matter how much sleep I get. I'm usually trying not to walk into walls if I get up at 2 am to pee.
You might have the apnea.

I have two phases, asleep and awake. Went to sleep last night at 1:45, was awake at 5:45. Pretty typical night.

It's not consistent for me. Sometimes I wake up and fall asleep again, other times I can't. That usually happens when I start thinking about work matters or look at the email notifications on my phone.

Medieval Sleep or Biphasic sleep as it is called is where your first sleep is a deeper sleep for about 4 hours or so, and your second is your morning sleep where people slept until dawn hours. In between is what was called the watch, or watching hours where people would often get up for an hour or two and meditate, pray, read, have sex, or prep up for the day ahead. I’ve noticed that this is also when I am most clear minded and at peace in my thoughts, where I get inspiration and mental clarity, so this makes good sense.

2am sex is unbeliveable

If you use anything other than a stretchy band that you can pull tight before bed, the data will suck (stock band seems to work fine). According to the Series 8 with a non stretchy band, I've had a total of 15 hours of sleep in the seven days. Going back to November I averaged about 7 hours a day with the same non-stock band (I ignore December because it was one hell of a bender with so many holidays in the middle of the week, I consider most of the data not representative.) With both App Updates to AutoSleep, as well as iOS updates, unless you're reading release notes in detail, I wouldn't rely on it too much.

my problem is after waking for a bathroom trip, my mind starts racing again. Thinking about what i need to do the next day. End up waking up tired most morning.

Welcome to my world. I'm usually getting to sleep around midnight, then up between 2:30 to 3 a.m. to pee, then back to sleep only to wake up about 3 hours later to pee again and it's 50/50 whether I go back to sleep again or just stay awake.
I haven't had a full night's sleep in decades but being retired and home alone during the day since the wife hasn't reached retirement age yet, I can get in a little sofa time and take a nap during the afternoon. In total, I probably get about 7 hours sleep a day and that seems sufficient.

I sleep in two phases. Usually just have to get out of bed, drink water, piss and I can usually go right back.
I always assume it had something to do with the amount of time I stare at this stupid phone

I’m in my 50s now and I usually sleep well until around 2:30 when I get up to pee, but can’t fall back asleep ‘til around 4:00…then my alarm goes off at 5:30 and I feel like I’ve been run over by a truck.
This is exactly me. Sleep for about 4 hours, get up to take a leak, toss and turn for 2-3 hours, then fall back to sleep and up with the alarm feeling like I'm dead. It fricking sucks. Why can't my body just stay the frick asleep?

Most nights I sleep through the night.
Asleep by 930-10, and I usually wake up around 530-6, but I might doze for a half hour or so before actually getting out of bed.

in phases. it is rare i sleep 3 hours without waking up. i wake up and don't get back to sleep for an hour. I never wake up refreshed. If I am not busy at work i am very tired. I usually say I am going to bed early but when i get home i am wide awake til midnight
Posted on 1/29/25 at 8:24 am to Mike da Tigah
I started waking up middle of the night in my mid-40s, mostly around 3am.
If I’m wide awake I watch TV for an hour or two, then go back to sleep.

I wake up about every hour

I usually wake up at least once unless I'm incredibly tired and my body just shuts down and throws me into REM immediately. Those dreams are usually as bizarre as they come
