I believe that, technically, "dinner" is what we've come to call "lunch."

Supper is the real "dinner."

Interchangeable. Breakfast, brunch and lunch are the only definitive meals.

Dinner is whatever your largest meal of the day is.

So either can be used.

Breakfast could be dinner.

I don't do it much anymore, but growing up, lunch was dinner, pretty sure my parents are still like that

Dinner refers to the largest meal of the day, and can be the midday or evening meal. Supper is a meal you have in the evening. Like most younger folks, I use use breakfast, lunch, and dinner regardless. My parents and grandparents used both.

Michelangelo did NOT paint "The Last Dinner."
